Everyone is wel­ come to play. Cost is $1.50 per person. Friday, Jan. 18 will be the next Pub night at the Legion. The fun will start at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. On Tuesday, January 22 at 7 p.m. the Cadets will have their Change of Command. Anyone wishing to attend, as the new officers are installed, is welcome. Installing team honoured NOTICE TO BRUSSELS WATER CUSTOMERS RATE INCREASE Effective January 1,1991, the new monthly flat water rate will be $9.80 per month. All other rates will change accordingly. Brussels Public Utility Commission G.S.T. will appear on your billing effective Jan.1, 1991. NOTICE TO BRUSSELS HYDRO ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS RATE INCREASE M. McCutcheon Grand Marshall The new rates effective January 1, 1991 are as follows: Residential Service First 250 kwh at 9.90c per kwh All additional kwh at 6.10c per kwh Minimum bill $6.15 Melvin McCutcheon, District Deputy Grand Master of Huron District #8 and his team, completed their installation of officers in the I.O.O.F. lodges in Seaforth, Clin­ ton, Exeter, Hensail, Brucefield and Listowel, in late October. Brussels Travelling on Cherry Bus Lines on December 18 were Muriel Whitfield, Lillian Moses, Leona Connally, Margarite Crawford and Leola Hood of Brussels; Rose Glanville of Atwood; Doris Foster of Belmore and Vera and John Hesselwood of Blyth to Oil Springs Museum. The group saw a candle dipping display, enjoyed a cup of hot cider then partook of a sumptious turkey dinner at the Best Western restaur­ ant in Sarnia. After dining they boarded the bus to see a tour of Christmas lights and returned home late that same evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stevens of Woodstock visited Jan. 4, with their cousin Ida Evans. Dr. Murray Workman spent a Friendship Club meets In the absence of the President Gerald Exel, who was unable to be present due to illness, the vice president Sarah Stephenson wel­ comed all and invited everyone to partake of the bountiful pot luck Christmas luncheon, for the Friendship Club being held in the Legion Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 12:30 p.m. Christmas Carols were sung UCW holds Christmas meeting Betty Campbell played Christ­ mas Carols until a delicious supper was served at the Brussels U.C.W. Christmas supper. President Jeannette Boynton welcomed the ladies. Betty Graber gave a reading where Chrsitmas Carol was hidden. The treasurer’s report was given by Joyce Jacklin. Two young people are going to Toe Alpha In appreciation for their support, Mel and Lois entertained the team and their wives at the Golden Lantern then went to their home for a social evening of court whist. The winners were Jack McCutcheon and Mrs. Bill Young. Mel was week with his mother Jean and Don During his stay he took the opportunity to visit with friends as well. Lynne and Jim Aitken, Dana and Andrew of Durham were also special guests with Mrs. Workman. Christmas weekend guests with Mary and Murray Huether and Brian, Dianne, Sandra and Sheri Huether included Joyce, Roger, Jonathon and Sarah Tipple of Burlington; Dave, Angela, Jeffrey and Kevin Huether of Brampton; Gary, Joan and Christopher Ritchie of Markham. Before Christmas Miss Mary Ritchie of Zealandia, Sask, visited with Mary and Murray and Mrs. Margery Ritchie along with other members of the McDonald and Ritchie families. Mary is the niece of the late Mr. Jas. McDonald and the late Jack Ritchie both former residents of Grey township. Earlier in the fall, Charlie and Ann Ritchie of Zealandia. Mary’s brother and sister-in-law made a brief stopover in the Brussels area. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship with Mary, Charles and Anne. accompanied by Verna Thomas at the piano and conducted by Freda Pipe. This was followed by two readings by Ethel Brewer. Euchre followed with the follow­ ing winners: high man, Ethel Brewer; low man, Albert Quipp; high lady. Adah Smith; low lady, Doris Hooper; most lone hands, Mary Clark. Exchange gifts were distributed. conterence. Money was given to M & S and to the building repair fund. The ladies are to look after supper in September. Worship was given by Jeannette. Ida Evans lead in prayer. Scripture was taken from Isaiah, chapter 35. Jeannette read a story topic of Advent by Wm. Hawkins. The Benediction was given by Jean­ nette. presented with an engraved plaque of congratulations commemorating their installations. Lois was given a lovely floral centrepiece. Mel and Lois attended the Grand Master’s Banquet in Ottawa. At this dinner Mel was nominated as Grand Marshall of the Grand Encampment of Ontario. The elec­ tion was held in Aylmer at the Chief Patriarch’s Banquet. Mel accepted the victory and his duties in that capacity to begin in May. The district official visits begin in January. The D.D. Grand Master’s banquet is scheduled for Feb. 14 in the Brussels Legion Hall.
