Christmas concerts are be- ing held everywhere and, three of them are being held next week, one at Kinloss Central school on Wednes- day afternoon, one at Tees.: water Hillcrest school on Wednesday and Thursday evening •and one by the Whitechurch Presbyterian Sunday School in the church basement on Friday evening. Len Coughlin spent last Wednesday in Hamilton at the home .of his parents. We are pleased to *report that Glenn England of Van- couver is steadily improving in hospital after his car accident. His passenger, Sandra .Arkenstall, also of Vancouver is still in serious condition. Mr.. and Mrs. Jim Springer *and family were .guests at a pre -Christmas dinner which Dave Springers held in the Whitechurch hall last Satur- day, December 8, with about 25 relatives present. • Mr. and Mrs. Jim Young, Marty, Jamie, Karen and Liane, Pam Springer, and Ken Young were dinner guests with .Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Young on Simday, December 9. and celebrat.-.-41 Karen and Liane's birthdays. Congratulations fo Sandra Gardner of Lucknow on win- ning a wrist watch at the 4-.H achievement night. Sandra had the highest marks in any of the 4-H projects. She is a member 'of the veterinary club. Sandra is the grand- daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Wesley Young, formerly of Langside. •, Sympathy of the commun- ity is extended to relatives of Mrs. - George Wadel, who passed away on the week- end, The Wadel family farm- ed on the fourth of Culross and were well known at Langside, • Visit •daughter in Australia Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacNay visited with. Mary's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick McQuillin and Ron on their way home from Australia, where they were Visiting with their daughter, Sharon for a tponth. • Make more money in '79. Sometimes we have family gatherings at my grandma and grandpa's church in Elmira. Sometimes, well last Christmas anyway, we sat around the wood stove and read poems. Amy Gingrich, Grade 3, Kinloss Central School. THE CHRISTMAS STORY At Christmas, everyone was in a great big rush. There was an old man who got kicked out of his home, so he had to go to get a room at a hotel. And then he heard this knock at the door and he said it must be Santa Claus, but itwasn't him, it was his friend, Joe. and then there were, two knocks and they both knew that it was Santa Claus, so they hurried to get their pyjamas on and get into their beds. The next morning they woke -up. They saw a big'box of candy and two new cars for their wives. They savv.a big box near the window so they opened it and there was a little puppy del.
