As a trustee Mr, Gatis represents the
Town of Wiarton and the Township of
Albemarle, having first been elected to the
Bruce Couhty. Board of Education in
January, 1977. Rehas just completed a term
as vice-chairman of the Board, chairman of
the Finance Comm.ittee, and Chairman of the
Advisory Committee on .Schools for Train-
able Retarded children.
Mr. Gatis is married to the former Sheila
Lennox. They have three children, two sons
(one a graduate of the University of Guelph
and '!he other attending the University of
Waterloo), and a daughter presently attend-
ing the Wiarton District High School.
Mr. Gatis is keenly interested in outdoor
activities and sports, especially tennis and
badminton which he plays regularly, and in
choral music. His musical interests also
included several years as a trombone player
in
the. Wiarton Band.

ship Council met for the
December session on Tues-
day afternoon, December 4,
1979, in tke Municipal 'Office
at the. Public Works Build-
• ing. All members attended -
Reeve Foran presided.
• The minutes of the 'Nov-
ember meeting were read,
and. adopted on'..a motion by
Councillors Hickey and Dur-
nin. •,•. .
Two Auburn trustees were
in 'attendance for part of the
meeting.
Building permits .were •
authotieed on a motion by
Councillors Aitchison and
• Cranston,. for S. Owen (paint
shop) and W. Creighton
(house).
Discussion took place re-
gaiding vehicles parked on
roads during the winter, and
the problems thus created for
snowplow operators.
An application for loan for
tile drainagefrom A. Dickson
was approved by Council on
• a ,motion by Councillors
Cranston and Hickey.
Motion by Councillors Ait-
chison and Hickey, "That the
Township of West Wawa -
nosh. hereby gives first and
second reading to \ By -Law
#18, 1979, Borrowing By -Law
to raise $400,000 to aid the
construction of drainage
works under The Tile Drain. -

Legislation regarding Der-
elict , Automobiles, was dis-
cussed. Copies of a sample :
by-law were distributed to
each Councillor with a re-
quest that. they select the
• points they consider neces-
sary to incorporate mb »a by-
law governing derelict auto-
mobiles•in the Township.
By -Law •#19, 1979 was
•given third reading and fin-
ak passed on a. motion by
Councillors Durnin and Cran-
ston. • This by-law raises the
interest rate to be charged on
tax arrears to 1%%» per
month. -
• The general accounts were
passed ' for payment on ' a
motion by Councillors Aitchi-
son and Cranston.
