Ripley District ras es $3,500 in dance-a-thon

ELEMENTARY NEWS
On Mon., Nov. -26 Mrs.
Henderson's Grade 7
class left for the Outdoor
Education Centre at
Wiarton. They stayed
until .Wednesday. They
did various activities
such as mapping, telling
the different kinds of
trees using a _ key, and
doing compass work.
Ms. McGonegal's
Grade 7 class left for the
Outdoor Education
Centre on Wednesday and
stayed until Fri., Nov. 30
for the same program of
Studies. Our thanks go to
Ms. McGonegal who put
up with us for the week
and other teachers who
chaperoned us in the
dormitories.
SECONDARY NEWS
A Georgian College
Representative will be
coming to Ripley on Dec.
6 at 11:00 to speak to
some R.D.S. students.
The graduation pic-
tures will be taken this
Thursday, Student
retakes will also be taken,
on this day.
On Thurs., Nov,. 29 to
wrap up our volleyball
season, the teachers
played the Grade thir-
teens. This game was
held at noon. School spirit
was involved in the .game
and made it enjoyable to
watch, Congratulations
go to the teachers for
winning the best two out
of three games, even
though the odds were
against them.
DANCE-A-THON
A SUCCESS!
R.D.S. was the scene of
excitement on Friday
night and Saturday.
R.D.S. held a dance -a-.
thon. We. would like to
thank, for chaperoning
the dance, all the
Ripley - Huron
Grey Cup
The flag football season
ended ;this year with the
playing of the boys' final
game.
An upset occurred
during the sem -final
games when the :first
place team, captained by
Jeff Gamble, was
'eliminated by the third
place team of Tim
Pipers.
The other semi-final
game finished in a
scoreless tie the first day
a'nd had to be continued
the next.
Doug Hawrylyshyn's
team and Tim Piper's -
team met headon in the
final. game. A strong
running game by Doug's
teams proved tobe too.

plays of the other team
The winning members
of Doug Hawrylyshyn's
team included Paul
Gamble, Corey Cuyler,
Ray Lotton, Steven..
Cover, Rick Lamb, Greg
Dahmer, Jody LeRoy,
Larry Reid, Jeff Wilkens
and Trevor Piper.

There were 29 students
who danced 18 hours and
many of the, elementary
students danced six
hours. The final total that
the school raised was
$3,764.71. The dance-a-
thon was a great success,
and showed a lot of our -
school spirit!
