Lancers get three points
The Lancers picked up
three out of four points this
past weekend with a win and
a tie.
Friday night they went to
Mildmay to play the Mon-
archs. In the first period,
Lucknow scored the only goal
as both teams played a
checking style of game.
Brian Blair flashed the light
for the Lancers with assists
to Stanley and Burrows.
The Lancers went ahead in
the second period by two
goals as Grant Clark scored
unassisted. Mildmay fought
back and made the score two
to one and then Doug Steven-
son blasted a Randy Alton
•
pass into, the net to restore
Lucknow's two goal lead.
Score at the end of two
periods, Lancers 3, Mildmay
1.
The third period belonged
entirely to the Lancers as
they swarmed all over the
Monarchs and came up with
four goals in less than five
minutes to take a command-
ing 7 to 1 lead. Goal scorers
for the Lancers in the third
period were Dennis Burrows
from Montgomery and Blair;
John MacKenzie from Clark;
Dennis Burrows added two

On Sunday, Fergus came
into Lucknow having lost
only one game all year and it
looked for some time as
though their record was in no
danger. The Lancers opened
the scoring on a goal by Jim
Murray assisted by Grant
Clark. Fergus then scored
three straight goals and were
taking the game to Lucknow,
when Brian Blair scored with
help from the Fergus goal -
tender. Assists also went to
Stanley and Greg Hamilton.
Fergus opened the scoring
in the second period and
looked as if they were going
to score more but strong
goaltending from Ron Martin
slowed Fergus down and
allowed John MacKenzie to
score, bringing the Lancers
back to within one goal at the
end of the second. Score at
the end of the second,
Fergus 4, Lucknow 3.
The third period was fast
and exciting with the local
boys outscoring their oppon-
ents three .goals to two.
Fergus again started the
scoring in the third, but
Lucknow battledback with
three goals to take a six to
five lead. Scoring for Luck -
now were Grant Clark with
two goals and Brian Blair
with .one.
Lucknow held onto their
slim lead until there was 2.14
left in the game when a lucky
bounce allowed Fergus to tie
the game. The Lancers ap-
plied the pressure for the
remaining time but couldn't
come up with the winning
goal and settled for the tie, 6
- 6.
The Lancers next home
game is Sunday, December 9
at 7.30 with the' Sailors back
