BY AB WYLDS
Sorry about that item in
this column last week on
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron
MacAuley now in Ripley.
There was a mistake in
the printing of Mrs.
MacAuley's name. It
should have.,, been
Cameron
Cameron and , Olwen
MacAuley are now living
in their new home in
Ripley.
Ripley's newest shops
featuring things for
children and located in
the Paul D. McInnes
building has a very nice
window display. Mrs.
Janet Cave operates this
shop and she would
welcome the public to
come into her shop. Her
display sure adds to the
-ap earance of the street.
rt n Nov. 19, Monday
afternoon of last week
Jim Bell of Kincardine,
Bill Chappell and Niels
Frederiksen of Ripley
arrived back home after
a three week vacation
tour in Florida. Jim
drove his car and. they
crossed the Bluewater
Bridge, Sarnia to Port
Huron then south to
Detroit. Here they got on
Interstate Highway 75
which leads directly into
the centre of Florida and
on. They travelled
through South. Michigan,
Obi.% Kentucky, Ten-
nessee, Georgia
en-nessee,:Georgia and into
Florida. In north Florida.
they changed over to go
down the east coast. They
left Kincardine on Mon.,
Nov. 5. A few of the
places they visited were
St. Augustine, Daytona
Beach, Cape Canaveral,
Cocoa., Orlando, Sea
World; and Sih, er
Springs. While on a visit
to Disneyland they left
their locked car ton one of
the parking lots. On their
return to.. the car they
found. the trunk had been
pickled as bare as Mother
Hubbard's cupboard.
Gone were their luggage
with extra clothes, some
identification material,
and parcels\ This un-
fortunate incident hap-
pened about half way
through . their trip.
Otherwise they had a
very enjoyable time.
On Friday just after the
noon hour, it was nice to
hear the sound of the
train whistle,. A freight
train coming up placed
tvo box cars on the siding
half. way .between . the
Ripley Chopping Mill and
the Grain Elevator. After
doing this the locomotive
was coupled to the
caboose and it headed
south again towards
Lucknow and Palmer-
ston: The cars were
consigned for the
Snobelen Farms.

there they went by bus to
Waikiki. Here they spent
the first week and then on
to Kauai for three days.
From there they
travelled back east by
plane to Maui with its
population of ninety.
thousand. This means
that they were on three
different islands -Kauai
Oahu (with its city
Honolulu and famous
Waikiki Beach) and
Maui. There are at least
eight islands in the
Hawaiian Island group
the nearest .one being
Hawaii Island and the
farthest Nihau Island.
While there Elsie and
Barbara visited some of
thehistoric places such
as Pearl Harbour where
the U.S. battleships were
sunk Dec. 6, 1941, and
Cocoa Palms where Elvis
Presley was married and
there composed Blue
Hawaii. They visited the
famed. Haleakala Crater
to explore the House of
the Sun as well as
volcanic craters.' They
found that the Hawaiians
are a very --friendly and
happy people taking life.
so calmly and loving

an Aloha. With palm
trees, lovely flowers of
