Lancers manage
tie with Sailors
The Lancers played back to
back games- this weekend
with the Goderich Sailors but
came out of the two games
with only one point. •
Friday night in Goderich, •
the Lucknow team was badly
outplayed by the Sailors and
only a strong game from
goaltender, Ron Martin, kept
the score from being much
higher than it was.
Goderich scored once in
the first, added two more in
the second, and finally three
more in the third period.
Lucknow scored two goals in
the second period. Both
Lucknow's goals came from
Jini .Murray with the .assists
going to Clark and Montgom-
ery. Final score Goderich 6,
Lucknow 2.
Sunday night in Lucknow it
looked like the Sailors were
going to have an easy time of
it again as they scored three
straight goals before the_
Lancers offence got one back
from Ian Montgomery.
The Sailors again took a
• three goal lead, then it was
the Lancers turn to open
things up, as they scored
three times to even the score
at four goals each after one
•period of play, Lucknow's
other goals came from Brian
Blair, Jim Murray and Ian
Montgomery with his second
goal.
In the second period, there
were only three goals scored
as both teams played a close
checking style of game.
Lucknow managed to score
two of the three goals
though and took a six to five
lead at the end of two periods
of play. The Lancer goals.
came from Ian Montgomery
with his third of the night
and Doug .Stevenson.
The third period saw wide
open play again. Goderich
• came out and scored the first
two goals to take the lead by
one, •but Dennis Burrows -7
found the back of the net for
Lucknow, to even the score at
seven each. Goderich scored
again to take a one goal lead
only to have Doug Stevenson
score to tie the score again.
Both teams applied 'them-
..
selves to getting another
goal, but the goaltenders for
both teams must have figur-
ed that was enough , scoring
and the ganie ended in an
eight all tie,
The Lancers will play the
Fergus Flyers Sunday, Dec-
ember 2 at 7.30 p.m. in
.Lucknow.
