Mrs. Walter Forster and with her brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Forster at thefamily homestead on sideroad ten east of Ripley. During the recent evacuation of Mississauga caused ,by the derailment and fire in those propane and .chlorine cars Carolyn and family left their home and stayed with her sister Mrs. Janet Millette ih Waterloo from Sunday evening tell Wednesday morning, November 14. A notice in the Ripley Post Office -put up by the postmaster Don McLay states that the mail now put in, the red box,outside on the front fawn of the officegoes outat eleven thirty . on Sunday mor- ning. There -is no longer a mail dispatch at 12:45 on Saturday. The London. On Friday evening a variety concert and dance organized by Mrs. Dorothy Wardell of Huron - Twp. and Mr' Eileen Faiden of Tiverton was held at the Huron. Township' hall. Tedball, Evan Hendry Knox Presbyterian Church W.M.S. met at "Huron Villa in Ripley on Tuesday afternoon with 18 members an- swering theroll call with a ,gift to be given to the "Salvation . Army" in. Wingham " to '•aid them -with " their Christmas remembrance for needy families. The meeting • opened with the "Call' to Wor- 1 ship" and :words of welcome by the president Amelia Cumming. The minutes of the last two. meetings were read by Adeline Hackett. The devotions were given by Sadie MacLeod reading the scripture and meditation followed with prayer by Donalda Gassel, who also had the "Book Display" and took several orders for same. The topic on "Mary and Martha" was well and ably given by Hazel MaeDoncald. May 31 to June 1, 1980. Mrs. Nugent divided.. the group into four groups and gave each group a "Mission Game". After 15 minutes, one in each group was to read the word or verse on chosen cards which they thought spoke about "Missions' She also asked how they- thought . they could im prove the game: The slate of officers for 1980 was read by Mary (Donnie) MacDonald. Grace was sung . and a delicious lunch served by the committee Mary Brown, Mabel Breckenridge, . Charlotte MacDonald, Ella MacPherson and a social time spent. and Brian Mathews all from Kerwood played their guitars and sang; Mrs. Violet MacKenzie a piano solo; Lisa Husk a Highland dance; Rev. Jim Bushell ac- companied by Violet 1VIacKeazie sang a solo; Walter 'Collins with his violin, Don Robertson, on guitar and Mrs. Jerry MacLeod. on - the. piano played; Allister MacKay a saxaphone solo; Ray Dalton of Kingsbridge a solo with Mrs. Vi MacKenzie on the piano;, Ossie and Eileen Falden a skit and dance with Mrs. Wardell, on the violin and Jerry MacLeod the piano; Mrs, Irene Errimenton a,�--,�.v.iolin solo with piai4Ast Jerry MacLeod; Mrs. Bill 13, Geddes a solo; George Inkster a mouth organ selection; Jim Britskay guitar and song; Mrs. Donna Woods of Hanover a. clown number; and Larry Needham a number on his bagpipes. The ladies of the Bervie Rebekah Lodge served ` lunch. Norman . Reinhart of `Teeswater on the drums, Jerry MacLeod on piano, Walter Collins and Don Robertson and the three guitar players from Kerwood along with square dance. Caller Chester Emmerton were the orchestra for 'the dance. A good crowd attended and all said that it was the best en- tertainment n-tertainment in a long time. • Turn to page 210 .
