church service was held
in. St. Andrew's U ited
4hurch in Ripleyat ten'
o'clock. Joining iit were
the folks of Knox
Presbyterian Church and
the Ripley Huron Legion,
Auxiliary and Youth
Clubs.' Rev. Jim, Bushell
of St. Andrew's was in
charge of theservice and
Rev. Hugh Nugent of
Knox Presbyterian
Church delivered the
sermon entitled "A Quest
for Peace",. At ten forty
five the parade formed up
outside the Church
directed by Marshal
Russ Stanley and with
piper Larry Needham in
thefront rank to march
down to the Cenotaph.
Here Bill McCreath had
the wreaths in order
along the sidewalk edge
A pleasant surprise
was the . attendance of
J.R. White who served in'
the First World War. His
daughter Mrs: Isabel
'MacDonald brought her
• father Russ up .from
' Clinton. Although Russ
has been for several'
years in California he
•alw'ays- has been .a
member • of the Ripley
Legion. It was also nice to
see: Lloyd- and Jean
Wylds, Ray and Beattie,
Collins, and bon mason
Mason,
with his P.A. ail down to
Ripley.
With., Remembrance
Day just past many folks
• will recall -those days
back in the Forties when

station. Everyone knew

week's paper carried the
obituary of Rev. Eugene ..
Beech who died suddenly,.
on October 13; 1979 in.
Port. Hope .hospi.tal. Born
and • raised ` .in
Bo.wmanville. he.. retired
from •North Broadview:
United .Church in Toronto
:due to ill health in.1966.
Ripley folks extend their

and their . families. :.The
funeral .service was held ,
Oct. 16 .in. Knox United
Church in A.gincourtwi'th
interment in Goodwood
cemetery. In charge of
the services were his son
Rev. Dr. Lawrence, A.
Beech, Rev. 1 Gordon
Burgess, and. Dr. Roy
Webster. •

he was known locally was
in his6'jth year. Son of the
late Mr. and Mrs: Sam
Pollock he was born on
Thursday, July 31, 1913 on
the 12th concession Huron
Township - Clarks area.
Surviving are his wife
Mary, nephew Ron
Pollock of Ripley, nieces
Shirley and Kay . of
London. Earlier ' this
summer he suffered a
severe stroke and despite
care and treatment in the
Intensive Care Unit in
University Hospital he
was not able to respond.
He was then transferred
back • to Kincardine
Hospital. He had been in
the two hospitals for
fourteen weeks according
to reports. Sincere
sympathy is extended to
his wife and all the family
relatives. It is just a year
ago that his brother Ivan
passed`: away. Interment.
was in Ripley cernetery.
He will be missed here.

playing.
