On Saturday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m., Mary Katherine
MacCharies and Steven Foster Donaldson exchanged
wedding vows in Knox Presbyterian Church, Ripley.
Mary is the daughter of . Mr. and Mrs. Sandy
MaoCharles of Point Clark and Steve is the son of
Mrs. Bill Gilbert of Kitchener and the late Mr: Don
Donaldson. •
Bouquets of fall flowers decorated the church.
. Rev: Hugh Nugent of Ripley. and, Rev. Arriold Proud of
Teeswater officiated at the service: The organist was
Miss_ Marg MacKay of Kincardine, and Mr. and Mrs..

gutter. • After the ceremony, Mr. Bill McLeod of
Kincardine piped the wedding party out of the church
and at the reception following. _
The bride's sister, Mrs. Pat Rose of. London was
matron of honour with Mrs. Kendra Dubeau, of
London, sister :of the groom and: friends Mrs. Gert
Larsen of Ripley, Mrs. Mary Armstrong of Ripley:and
Miss :Joan Ferguson of London as bridesmaids: Miss
Sarah Dubeau, niece of the groom; was the.,flowergir.l.
The 'groom's brother-in-law,,' Donnie 'Dubeau of
London was the best man. Friends, Mr. Jim Scott of.
Ripley, •Al Dickson,••Gary Whytock and Byron Ballag•hi,
all of Teeswater, were ushers.
Dinner was served in the Ripley Community
Centre, followed by a '.reception in the Teeswater
Community Centre.
Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson are residing in Teeswater.

The fifth meeting of the St.
Helens Needle-o-Needlers
was held at the hail on
October_ 27.
The president,. Suzanne
Kirkland, opened the meet-
ing and ' the minutes were
read by Sofie Beyersbergen.
The girls were shown how
to block their casters and
pillows and stared to block
their own.:_
-Suzanne. Kirkland and
Marion Raynaud were chosen
to speak at Achievement
Day.
Leader Norma Raynard
discussed the history of.
needlepoint. • Leader Lula
Weber questioned the mem-
bers about canvas, needle
use, yarn and stitches.
The members doing coast-
ers learned the bindingstitch

The .Federal Business De-
velo meet Bank's Manage-
ment' Services will hold a
management seminar for
small business in Wiegham,
at the Royal Canadian Legion
Hall on November 22nd,
1979. The day's program will
deal with taxation as ` it
applies to the small business
person, an area of growing
concern these days when
every penny counts.
Several members of the
-local business community are
expected to attend the sem-
inar on the 22nd of Nov-
ember.
Using the case study, meth-
od, and with the expert
advise' of a , chartered ac-
countant, they will examine
problems of taxation in a
small business, the correct
methods of tax calculation
and the steps a small busi-
ness person can take to
reduce the ' amount of tax
payables.
Some of the problems to be
discussed during the day
include the choice, of ayear-
end, the tax implications of
Incorporation, dividend pay-
ments, the employment of a
spouse; and year-end bon-
uses, among others,
The goal of this seininar is
to provide the small business
person with an insight into
some of the basic problems.
Further, it is intended to help
him/her to recognize prob-
lems when they arise, so that
they can then seek the ap-
propriate advice,
"Taxation: 'An Introduc-
tion is the latest in the
Federal Business. Develop-
ment Bank's popular series
of management seminars for
small business. In 1977,
more than 12,000 operators
of small businesses across
Canada benefitted from this
program. In 1978, more than
20,000 attended.
