Mrs. Walter Lock, President, stated that a plaque was hung in the Medical Centre in Ripley designating the presentation of a laryngoscope to Kin- cardine hospital on the occasion of Pauline McGibbon's visit to the 75th Anniversary celebration in May. Thanks were extended to Mrs. John Gamble for convening tuck shop workers in July and August.. An award was presented to Glenn Grubb at the High School Commencement by Mrs. Walter Lock from the Ripley Women's Institute. Mrs. Ross Cumming is convenor of the catering for the Legion. banquet assisted by Mrs. Walter Culbert. Mrs. James Kirkpatrick and Christene Robertson gave full reports of the County Rally in Arrnow at which there were 166 members. Ripley Branch was asked to sell 10. pot scrapers and eye- glass cleaners, proceeds for Rinioss- Kairshea WI: annual At Home The Kinloss-Kairshea Women's Institute held their annual "At Home" on Satutday at 7 p,m.. when the members and their families got together for the usual. bounteous pot luck dinner. Harold Campbell, Gordon Wall and Mrs. Jack Need- ham played some toe tapping music. After. Mrs. Sheila Clarke welcomed everyone, guests. were favoured with a piano solo, "You light up my life", by Dale Gilchrist. A skit in the form of a song was performed by Heather, May- ' id and Marita MacDougall, and Heather and Katrina Howald. Meigan and Cailin Clarke recited a poem in unison. Mrs. Sheila Clarke then introduced the guest speak- er; Brock Cleland, who showed slides and talked of his two years on St. Vincent Island in the Carribean. Mrs. Bob Gilchrist thanked Broc for a most interesting view of„, life on that Carribean Island. She also thanked the dir- ectors in charge of the evening,- Mrs. Bob Gilchrist, Mrs. Virden Mowbray, Mrs. Harold Campbell and Mrs. Sheila Clarke. Bruce South District funds. Mrs. Grant Collins won the Tartan $300 award in Bruce for Citizenship. Joyce Osborne was a candidate presented by Ripley Branch receiving a close second and $10. Mrs. Frank Fair reported on Citizenship, stating that Mother Teresa of India, a nun; was given the Nobel Peace Prize for helping the needy. The $180,000 prize will be used to further her work for lepers and the needy. . Mrs. Donnie McDonald reported her continuing work on the Tweedsmuir History Book. The guest speaker, introduced by Mrs. Joe Scott, was St. Helens WI hold meeting The curator's meeting of St. Helens W.I. was held in the hall. Thursday, November 1. The roll call, show an antique, brought mit many interesting articles. The Remembrance Day service on Sunday, Novem- ber 4 was discussed and also several suppers and ban-, quets were discussed. It was decided to hold a pot luck supper the last Friday in November if suitable and the committee was also to can- vass the village for donations for the lightfund from those who do not attend the supper. The motto was given by Janet McPherson on "Re- member". She read an art- icle by Elizabeth Blackand a poem written by -Laurie Jami- eson. Both had gotten prizes in former years: Miss Beatrice McQuillin prepared an interesting. topic whichwas given by Mrs. Cooper. Shirley Clarke had interesting current events andtwo poems were read by Isabel Miller. . A silent auction was held for articles suitable for sup- per, brought by the mem- bers. Lunch was served by host- esses Helen Todd, Isabel Miller and Mildred Purdon. Jessie Alton of Lucknow.
