Dungannon Women's Insti-
tute were. at Pinecrest in
Lucknow on Thursday to
entertain the residents for
the nine • people celebrating
birthdays in October.
Mrs. Sam Gibson was
chairlady. and. expressed
pleasure in being there'. Mrs,
Gordon Finnigan was at the
piano... ,
The program included a
bagpipe selection by Mrs.
Clifford Purdon, slides of
autumn scenes, cattle etc.,
shown by Mrs. Cecil Blake, a
reading by Miss Beth Mc-
Connelland a solo by Mrs.
Russel Alton. .
Mrs. Wilma Clark thanked
the ladies for the program
and. "Happy Birthday was
sung by all. Lunch of fruit
juice and birthday cake was
enjoyed while visiting with
friends.

About 90 people gathered
in the Brookside School gym
on Thursday evening to take
part in the self-help pro-
gram, sponsored • by the
Mennonite Central Commit-
tee and in charge of Mrs.
Shirley Martin from Listow-
el.
The evening's event was
opened by Ruth Johnston,
president of the Christian
Fellowship Women's group,
who led the assembly in a
song; "He's Got the Whole
World `in His Hands". This
was followedby a brief
scripture reading by Marion
Lawrence. Mrs. Martin then
showed a filmstrip which
depicted workers invarious
countries: of the world, mak-
ing
ak-ing`articles to be sold
throughout the world, and .all
money being sent to the
producers, which helps ' to
provide food; shelter, educa-
tion medical help and self-
respect.
Some of the places which
were represented by the ex-
tensive .display of handcrafts
were Haiti, Africa, Philip-
pines, Bethlehem and north-
ern Canada.
Thirteen hundred dollars
was taken in from the sale of.
these crafts, Tea was served
as the buyers were viewing
and buying goods and visita-
tion was enjoyed by the men
and women who came from
at least six .different church
groups.
BROOKSIDE BROADCAST'

O n October 24th, there
were two exciting things that
happened. • .
First the International Day
of the Child took place with
an assembly. in the gym at
9.30 a.m. In the assembly we
had Rev: Cook. speak to us,
after which we watched a
television program called
"Why Should l Care?" Later
we saw a film of the students
taken by Mr. Jewitt,
Secondly,the school 'put :.
on an Open House, H ihich
had a. terrificturn out. We
had a very short program
that started off with the choir
led by Mr, Cameron,. Then a
show on .the trampaline took
place. The. students that; per-
formed were: Wilma Van-
derve.lde, Janice Cook, David
,Weaver, Paul Jerome and
Ricky Livingston.., We would
like tol thank. the parentsfor
come
coming to. our Open House.
Now for. the Chocolate Bar
Sale winners. These • are the
