clubs meet
•Continental
Cuties

The fifth meeting of the
Holyrood Continental Cuties
was held October 18, at the
home of Barb Gingrich.
The club chose a cover
design. The skit for achieve-
ment day was again discus-
sed.
Barb talked about blocking
and later used one of the
samples to, demonstrate. Joy
Ackert showed the girls how
to do the overcast stitch
which is needed to finish the
coasters. The leaders showed
the group. how to make
twisted cords, tassels and
pompoms. The group worked
on their samples while the
leaders checked members'
books.
Punch 'n
• Pullers
The fourth meeting of the
Clover Valley Punch
Pullers was held on Satur-
day, October 20 at the home
of Sheila Osborne.
Elizabeth Wilkins read the
minutes of the last meeting.
• The leaders, Fran Elphick
and Mayme Wilkins, discus-
sed the history of Needle-
point.
• The, girls learned three
new stitches, the Scotch
stitch, the Cashmere stitch
and the. Brick stitch.
Nifty needlers

• Nifty Needlers was •held
• October 17 at home of Jayne
• Ritchie. Carol Ritchie read
the minutes of ,the Iast
meeting.
Mrs. Ritchie demonstrated
mounting and framing. .Lori.,
Hackett and Sharon Alton
demonstrated how to make a
twisted chord. Brenda Hack-
• ett demonstrated how to
make g tassel.
The seniors and Finiors
divided up into groups. Miss
Hackett showed the seniors
how to finish their pillows.
Mrs. Ritchie. showed the
juniors hOw to finish •their
• coasters.
The meeting closed with
• refreshments.

The third meeting of the
St. Helens Needle o' Need-
lers was held inthe St.
Helens Hall .on October 13.
President Suzanne Kirk-
land opened the meeting.
The members discussed a
free choice article. Some ex-
amples mentioned were a
glass 'case, pillow, tote bag,
etc.
The leaders, Norma Rayn-
• ard and Luba Weber assisted
in: the learning of the 'cross
stitch, and cashmere stitch.
The girls them worked on
their samplers which are to
be completed for next week.
