Ripley District students enjoy cross-country
Elementary

Ripley Elementary
Cross Country teams
went to Bruce Beach on
Oct. 3 in the afternoon.
They competed against
teams from W.E.
Thompson, Elgin Market,
Huron Heights, and
Lucknow.
Lori Roberts won first
for the senior girls and
Danny Wood won first for
junior boys. Ripley won
second overall.

The University of
Western Ontario will be
sending representatives
tcrRipley, on Tuesday to
talk to the Grade 12
students.
On Fri., Oct...19 there
will be a Professional
Activity Day.
Volleyball teams from
Ripley are on a winning
streak. On Tues., Oct. 9,
Sacred Heart volleyball
teams were in Ripley. All
four Ripley teams won
their matches.
Last .Saturday the
junior and senior boys
and senior girls par-
ticipated in a volleyball
tournament in Kin-
cardine. The senior girls
won seven out of their
eight games and came
out on top! Although the
boys played well they did
not win the tournament.
The Ripley volleyball
teams play in Kincardine
on Tues., Oct. 16. Good
luck!

On Thurs., Oct. 4, all
students at R.D.S. were
givena quiz. The students
who got the highest

will be representing
R.D.S. in "Reach for the
Top". Those students

BUS DRIVERS'
MEETING.
Last Wed., Oct. 10,
there was a meeting in
the library for the bus
drivers. Starting . to
prepare for the winter
weather was the purpose
BIKE TRIP
Last Wednesday, the
Grade 10 Physical
Education class was
supposed to go on a bike
trip. Unfortunately, just
before they were to leave,
dark clouds showered us
with wet snow. The bike
trip is postponed until
Wed., Oct. 17, if the
weather is permitting.
Ripley -Huron Central
ART CLUB
Last Friday the Art
Club at R.D.S. visited the
McMichael Art Collection
in Kleinberg. The
members who went said
that they enjoyed their
visit very much.
FIRST DANCE
OF THE YEAR!
R.D.S. held their first
dance of the year on
Friday, October 12. The
students danced from 9
until 12 o'clock and the
disc jockey was Gord
Bonarchie from `Toronto.
Everyone was supposed
to wear a hat and the.
consequences of not
wearing one was a fifty
cent fine:
Everyone seemed to be
having a great time on
Friday night, and the
music was terrific!
Learn about the pilgrims
GRADE ONE
Mrs. Johnson's grade
one class have been
studying about
Thanksgiving. We
learned about the -first
Thanksgiving that the
Pilgrims celebrated over
300 years ago. We made
Cranberry Bread and a
fruit salad. We enjoyed
this along with apple
juice at our Thanksgiving
Party.
GRADE 4-5
Each child in Mrs.
Huston '.s 4.5 class is
making his own leaf
collection. _ This should
help us to recognize trees
by their leaves. 'We are
also collecting some
seeds off trees such as
acorns,' walnuts, horse
chestnuts, maple keys
and • mountain ash
berries. Congratulations
to Suzanne Bell whose,
frog won second place in
thefrog jumping contest.
Marriage
WOOLNER - WAGNER
The Christian Fellowship
Church, Dungannon was de-
corated for Harvest Home to
provide the setting for the
marriage of Marilyn Wagler,
Dungannon and. Paul Wool-
ner of Kitchener on . October
6, 1979.
The bride is the daughter
of Ken and Alice Wagler of
Dungannon. The bride chose
a traditional long white gown
and an attractive halo head-
piece for her wedding.
Her three sisters, Joyce,
Susan and Betty Wagler
were her bridesmaids. They
wore dresses in autumn
shades (an a beige back-
ground.
Carl Dubrick was best man
and Ron Baer and James
Wagler ushered the guests.
The pianist Carol Roed-
ding accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. John Lee who sang
during the signingof the
register. John Wagler and
three of \the attendants read
scripture readings during the
ceremony, performed by
Rev. Glenn Brul2acher and
Rev. H. Lawrence. A recep-
tion followed'at the Westfield
Restaurant.
Guests were invited to the
honte of the bride's parents.

Montreal and points east on
their honeymoon. Upon their
return they will take up
residence in Kitchener.

SOCCER WINDUP
The intramural soccer
schedule has come to a
close. The competition
was very keen throughout
the season, as evidenced
by the many tied games.
Eight teams par-
ticipated this year. Five
teams were composed of
grade 4, 5 and 6 boys
while three teams of girls
were formed from the
same grades. The final
game in each division haa
to go into extra time with
the final results decided
in a sudden death
situation. '
The champion boys'
team was captained by
Nick Dunn. Members of
his team were Jeff
Godfrey, Paul Gamble,
Tim Piper, Robert
Drzazga, Don Shantz,.
Gerry Meurs, Steve
Courtney, Greg Dahmer,
Randy Nicholson,
