O'Neill officiating, Cecilia Gunnewiek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony. Gunnewiek of Elgin and Leo- nard Miltenburg, son of Mr. .• and Mrs. John Miltenburg of Lucknow, were united in Holy Matrimony. The• floral arrangements Consisted of gladioli and roses, with mus- ic by soloist Mary Bakker and organist Gerd Vonhone. • Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white polyester satin, with lace sleeves and lace trim- med bodice. Matching lace edged her sheer fingertip veil. Sh,e wore her grand- mother's .gold cross which her mother had worn for her wedding. She carried a bou- quet of .roses in shades of pink and yellow. The bride's friend, Mary Ann Miltenburg, was maid of honour, and the bride's sister, Angela Gunnewiek, was bridesmaid. Both were attired in long eyelet gowns of white, pink and blue. They carried bouquets of roses. The groom's attendant was John Gunnewiek, with Ben Miltenburg as usher. The groom and his attend- ants were attired in mint green tuxedos. • A reception at Portland Community Hall followed the ceremony. Guests were re- ceived by the mother of the bride., who wore a floor length green print gown and • a corsage of white button mums. She was assisted by the mother of the groom, who wore a Icing pale blue printed gown and a similar corsage. The gowns worn by the bride, the bridesmaid and • the bride's mother were made by the bride. • Guests attended from Lucknow, Woodstock, Elgin, Westport, Almonte and Montreal. The couple now reside at R. A delicious dessert was served •by the hostesses, Mrs.. Wilbur Brown, Mrs. Ross Shiells, Mrs. Cyril Brown and Mrs. Walter Alton. Mrs. Stewart MacGilliv- ray, president, presided for the business and read a poem on "October". Mrs. Wilbur Brown, con- vener of the Citizenship and World Affairs committee, presided for the program and read a poem on the "Year of. the Child". The motto, "A man's feet should be planted in his country, but his eyes should survey the world", was very ably taken by Mrs. Cyril Brown, and Mrs. Harv- ey Webster played the piano and sang two delightful solos. Mrs. Ross Shiells intro- duced the guest speaker, Stuart Collyer, who spoke on "How to become a Canadian Citizen". Mr. Collyer point- ed out that a person must be in Canada three years and be 18 •years of age before putting in his application for citizenship. He must then have an official understand- ing of the English language and a certain knowledge of the geography and history of Canada. •The person goes before a Citizenship Judge and then takes the oath in a Citizenship Court, Mrs. Shiells thanked Mr. Collyer for his very enlight- ening talk and presented him with a gift. The theme of the day was You + Me = Us. After registration the Pine River -Bethel group led in a lively singsong. They also introduced the song they have written especially for the Jamboree in 1980. During the day everyone attended three workshops of ,games,_crafts and Serendip- ity. Jamboree Information was given and the Vesper \ Service music for this Dec- ember was practised. The Christian Resource Centre, Mitchell had a book display and CGIT supplies were available.
