MacDonald received friends and relatives at an Open House on October 14 at South. Kinloss Church on the occasion of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. William F. MacDonald, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Angus • MacDonald, 4th concession of Kinloss, married May Graham, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Graham, 2nd concession of Kinloss, on October 14, 1919. They were married by Rev. John G. Reid, minister of the church. They were the first couple wed in South Kinloss Church, known then as the "Big Church''. " May and Bill spent 39 years of their married life on their farm located on the 4th concession of Huron and Kinloss. In 1958,.they moved to their present Willoughby Street home:• Net the years, friends and . relatives, have known the MacDonald home as one of good hospitality and fellovdship. May and Bill have taken an active part in church' and cotninunit'y life. May is: a life member of South Kinloss. W.M.S., and Bill served for 43 years on Session and for .many years as Clerk of Session of South Kinloss Church. They have a family of three, Margaret, who following a teaching career in Bruce County and Sarnia, issecretary of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Sarnia; 'Dr. John (Mack) is a research chemist With Imperial Oil: and lives in Sarnia with his wife Judy and four children; Janet, John, Elizabeth and Geoff;: Graham' is a superintendent with Middlesex Board. of Education and Jibes in. London with his wife. Freda. They have three children, Anneof Nanaimo, Jim of Rankin Inlet and"Bill -. of Guelph. At the Open House, the following persons poured .tea: Mrs. Marian Zinn, Mrs. Margaret Keith, Mrs. Gladys Tuck, Mrs., Bell Hackett, Miss Mary Maclntyre, Mrs. Mary Buckton and St. Helens BY KATHRYN. TODD Mr -s... Margaret Cranston spent acouple of days visiting with ,her. daughter, Nancy Grigg of Kitchener. Sympathy is expressed to. •Harold'Fowlet:andhis family on the, passing of his wife on October 10th. Mrs. Fowler had been ill for the past few months. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Snowden held a; very suc- cessful auction at their home on Saturday. In spite of the poor wet weather, a large crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Snowden will be living in Lucknow, as their son, Ron, . and his family have purchased the farm. (Wended for last week] Mr. and Mrs: Jim Yundt of Kincardine were Thanksgiv- ing day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill MacPher- son. ' Mrs. Wayne Todd and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. V. Elucharme of.. Winghams ' Isabel Miller 'and Helen Todd returned home after spending a few days in the Thousand Island area. Mrs. Elizabeth Dickie. The ladies of . South Kinloss Church provided the Open House, and Mrs. Blanche Needham and Mrs. Ruth Steer provided appropriate music. During the afternoon Rev: W. Munshaw spoke briefly and Harry Lavis, on behalf of the Session presented May and Bill with a Bible and a book on Bible archeaelogy. Floral tributes were received from the Village. of Lucknow, Town• and Country Bowling League, South Kinloss Church, and St: Andrew's Presbyterian. Chureh,Sarnia. May and • Bill .received many messages. of congratulations. and good wishes.. Included were messages'from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, Dr. K. MacMillan, . Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, Prime Minister Joe Clark, R. McKinley, M.P., William Davis., Premier of Ontario, and Murray Gaunt, M.P.P. May and. Bill have been blessed with good health during their long lives and continue to take an interest inlocal affairs. • During recent months, Bill has written some of his memories of life in Kinloss over eighty years ago. On October 6, their family held a dinner in their honour at the Bedford Hotel in Goderich. . During. the Open House, Frank MacKenzie read the following poern, composed by Jack Needham. We're sure it seems that time has flown Since first they went to their new home. Yet„ looking back. there's no regret For, . "What you give" is "What you get". They gave their all to work .at hand Be it milking cows or working land. . The war was o'er and hoes aplenty Ushered in the 'roaring twenty'. As prices rose;' it seemed to be That folks went on a spending spree. Despite the ups, and downs of. living. Bill and May just .kep on 'giving': They kept their Faith through thick and thin And., proved that thus, you're bound to win. They left the' farm and went to toWn But, did thechange soon get them. • down? 'Not much! .Their friends, are quick to say They've found them active every day! Be it travel, church, or exercise They've ' proven keen, alertand wise. Now, look ye back with honest pleasure .You worked and lived: to fullest measure.
