uting the Lucknow and District Lions Club.
He was • named an honorary president of
Lucknow Lions and went on to serve as
District Deputy Governor and later Cabinet
Secretary for the District.

meat
marke
Button's Meat Market, a well established.
main street business in Lucknow, has been
sold to Koen ' and Kate van Dijk of Ingersoll.
The business had been in the Button family
for over 60 years when it was purchased by
Gary Sutton in 1973.
The van Dijks plans to continue custom
killing and cutting meat as the business was
operated under Mr. Sutton's ownership.
There is no intention to open a meat counter
says Mr. van. Dijk,, "It is very busy as it is."
Mr. Sutton is remaining on staff untilthe
end of October and the other staff. include
butchers, Dave Button and Brian Nicholson.
Mrs. van Dijk is a partner in the business
and work as a meat wrapper on the days the
store is open.
Business hours will remain the sante. The :.
store will be open on Monday, Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday, and closed for custom
killing. on Tuesday and Thursday.
Mr. vin Dijk is a landed • immigrant who
carne. from Dedemsvaart, about 100 miles
southeast of Amsterdam, Holland, two. years
ago. He worked as a butcher in Ingersoll
where he met his wife, before buying the
Lucknow business. He has been working
with Mr. Sutton since mid-September and,
officially takes over this. week.
Butchering in Holland is different says
Mr. van Dijk, because all meat is sold de-
boned. He apprenticed with a butcher for six
years and all butchers must learn to cater
cold buffets as a part of their trade.
He says it is easier t getto know people
in a small toy'n like Luck w and he enjoys
meeting his cutomers.
He appreciates that Gary has stayed on to
help through the transition period, and he is
pleased 'to see he has purchased a business
with an excellent clientele.
