Sunshine and good turnout at

Well, the Ripley
Agricultural Society was
blessed with a beautiful
sunny day and dry
grounds for holding the
1979 Ripley Huron fall
fair last Saturday Sept.
29. Everyone connected
with the staging of the
show is most thankful and
we hope Our rieighbouring
fairs, Tiverton and
Teeswater, have the
same good fortune.
The presidents of the
fair •Dan A. and Sheila
MacDonald left this
Monday morning for a
two week vacation. They
flew from Toronto airport
to Vancouver. It is hoped
that they have •a nice
holiday after the past
hectic weeks.
Also flying out of
Toronto on Monday was
• Dr. Donald W.
MacDonald. Don. has
been here for the past
weeks on holidays at the
family homestead
visiting with his brother
Doug and wife. Eileen
MacDonald .a half mile
west of Ripley. Dr.
MacDonald holds a Po-
sition in the government
branch of animal health
as a veterinary Specialist
in Edmonton. •

•to see his Mother Mr's.
Hazel' MacDonald in
• Walkerton. He ;also en-
joyed meetinghisf old
friends at. the Ripley
•Show on Saturday.
On the weekend Miss
Chris Robertson received
the sad news of the death
•of Kenneth McLay in
, Halifax from his niece
Miss Mary Lou Strathdee
in Weston. Youngest
member of the family of
the late Mr. and Mrs.
John "Grand Trunk"
McLay who lived where
• Wilfred and Dianne
• Gamble and family now
• live across from the
Honey Building in Ripley.
Kenny was •a poplar
young man attending
both the Ripley Public
• and ContinuationSchools.
• Those who knew him
• affectionately by the
nickname "Kenny Fat"
nothing to do with his
size, were all saddened
• last Sunday. morning to
hear this news .• front
Chris. .Among the neigh
bours in. Ripley. Kenny
• was always admired by
the way as a young man
,sailing he always •
provided funds sent to his
•-Mother for her needs.
Here in Ontario he is
survived by his brother
D.A. .retired Toronto .
school principal, and his
sister Margaret • (Mrs.
Floyd Strathdee), •and
her daughters Mary Lou
and Joanne. He was
predeceased by his
parents, brothers George
and Davey - w.eiLknown
Ripley Public School
principal, and his sister
Annie. -:Kar4garet and
