Honours Eldon C-ulbert
for 37 years service
A member of the Dungan-
non Agrieultural Society was
honoured for his service with
the Society at the Dungannon
Fall Fair on September 20.
Eldon Culbert first became
a director of the Society in
1937 and held the positions
of secretary in 1940, and the
office of president in 1946
and 1947. Still an active
member, he has sold tickets
for the society concerts since
1937 when they cost 25 cents.
He has taken tickets at the
gate for the fair each year
and was caretaker for a
number of years.
-The fair was officially op-
ened by Murray Gaunt MPP
and representatives of local
municipalities addressed the
fair including Reeve Warren
Zinn of Ashfield Township;
Bill Bogie of Colborne and
Marybelle Cranston of West
Wawanosh. Huron County
Dairy Princess, Jean Seir-
siemdtook.part in the open-
ing ceremonies.
The weather man was
more co-operative this year
and fair organizers were
pleased with a sunny day, a
considerable improvement
over last year's rain.
• The fair closed Friday
night with a dance to the
music of Side Kick. Draws
were ,made for a rocking
horse won by Ron Alton,
Lucknow and a lawn chair
won by Mrs. J. Thomson of
R. 3 Goderich.
