Her ,father, once took Dinah in his coat
pocket•over to Jack Curran's to play cards.
Mr. Andrew brought Dinah out of . his coat
pocket and set her on a newspaper on the
tableand while they were waiting to take
their turn playing, the "card players petted.

Margaret used to teach school just up the
road from "their farm Stephen, the youngest
of the family, would cometo meet his mother
and brothers and sisters after school.He'd
walk over to,the school with his crayons in a
peanut butter pail, followed by the farnily's
pet lamb. He'd clamber up the steps of the
school followed by the lamb, and sit in the
seat behind. Mary, with the lamb laying at
his feet, until his mother dismissed.. school.
for the day and theycould all go home.
Margaret says she likes life oh the farm.'
"You have the freedom to do what you like
when you.. like," she says. "You don't have
to punch a time clock." `
