Margaret Andrew likes a bit of
colour in her life and she creates this
colour ' by planting hundreds of
annuals in her flower beds at her
'farm home in Ashfield. .The flowers
are a family project and Margaret
insists her son, John should get most
of the credit because he does the

Legion album
The winner oflast year's Lucknow
• Legion Poetry Contest will have her
poem. recorded on a new Remem-
• brance album which is being produc-
• ed by the Goderich Legion., Donna
• Freeman ,• Colborne, wrote the poem
while a student .at Brookside Public
School. The album will,be a mixture
of music and•documentary commem-
orating all those who fought in the"
world wars. See story page 8.
Ripley fair
Ripley is the site of. Fall Fair fun
this weekend when the Kincardine
Scottish Pipes and Drums and the
Seaforth District High School Girls'
Trumpet Band will highlight the
parade at the Ripley Fall Fair. -
Exhibits at the complex, 4-H shows,
a midway and a variety program are
On the list of events this Friday and •
Saturday.

Salesgirls in the recent Lucknow Sentinel
Subicriiition- drive. The girls, ,inenibers of
the Luclmow Figure Skating Club, sold 45
subscriptions during the drive. They receiv-
ed Schaeffer pen sets in addition to ,the $27
they earned hi commission. The figure
skating club members sold a total of -194
subscriptions during. the campaign and
• earned a total of $178 for their club. Tracy
• McDonagh sold the second highest number
of subscriptions and Melissa Beckei was the

Three Lucknow people were treated in
hospital for injuries following a two -car
collision at the intersection of Bruce County
.',Road 1 and Concession 14, Kinloss
Township, • Tuesday evening.
•Edward McQuillin, a driver of one of the
• vehicles and his wife Jane, were taken to
• Kincardine and District Hospital and treated
•.for major injuries. Grant McQuillin, a •
passenger in the car, was treated for minor
injuries and later released from hospital.
The. driver • of the other vehicle was
Douglas J. McEwan, Holyrood.
Damage was estimated at $2,500 for each
• vehicles.
The Kincardine detachment of the Ontario
• provincial Police investigated the accident
and charges were laid.
Typhoid
a rumour
• Huron County Medical officer of Health,
Dr. Brian Lynch, last week denied that there
was a case of typhoid fever in the county.
• There was a rumor that a young child in
the Clinton area suffered from the highly
• contagious disease and was transferred to a
London Hospital from Clinton.
But Lynch denied the rumor claiming a
__wag g patient had been sent to London with
a disease stemming from poor sanitary
conditions, but not typhoid fever.
The patient is now in isolation in a London
Hospital and Lynch said there is no threat to
public health. Personnel at the Clinton
Hospital are not being treated either• ,
A few cases of typhoid fever were detected
in the London area last year.
