see this .increase in ac-
tivity as farmers use the
services supplied by Ron
Stanley of Bervie who
owns the Ripley Chopping
Mill.
Lucknow had a nice
day for their fall fair last
Saturday. Many people
from the 1 Ripley. and
Huron township area
attended. In fact from
early noon hour till five
o'clock the village streets
were bare only about
six . cars were parked
upstreet.
Murray Gaunt, M.P.P.:
of Wingham, member for
Huron -Bruce in .Toronto,
was the Mater of
Ceremonies and Jim
Reed of Toronto,co-host
of the C.T.V. W-5 News
Show, opened the fair.
Mrs. Frances (Mon-
tgomery) Reed, his
mother, resides at
Huronvilla in Ripley.
Frances grew • up in
Ripley - just south of the
village on thea, present
Johnston MacLeod farm.
Her parents were the late
Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Montgomery. Also Jim's
sister is Mrs.. Jewel
(Delbert) Stanley. Mr.
and Mrs., Stanley and
family live in their new
home at east end of
Ripley on the 8th con-
cession on. Queen Street.
His second sister is Mrs.
Eleanor Townsend, who
is the Canadian Open
Fiddle Champion, having
won recently at
Shelburne. Also cousins
of Jim are Lloyd Wylds of
Huronville and Warren
Wylds of the 12th con-

the writer is not familiar
with this species.
The teenage boys here
have revived an old
ganie. It could be called
"Scuffling". Each day
when the weather is nice,,,.,,
they hold a session in
Gore Park. The scuffling
session best remembered
by the writer was back in
the early forties when the
boys were home on their
last leave before going
overseas. A couple did
not return and one was a
prisoner in Germany
from the time • of the
Dieppe Raid in August
1942. ` There were five
involved in this basic
training demonstration
and it started at a hockey
game in the Diamond
