Supper party for anniversary couple
To. help celebrate Nel
and Cliff Johnston's 40th
wedding anniversary, a
supper party was held on
Sunday for relatives and
friends at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Barry Johnston,
and family. Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Johnston of
Toronto also helped
Barry and Gladys. '
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Van
Wensen and Brian of
Ripley and Mr. and Mrs.
Tony Van Wensen of
Holland visited on
Tuesday with Mr. 'and
Mrs. Earl Steven and
Doug.
Rev, Nugent of' Ripley
and Ashfield churches
conducted the baptismal
service at South Kinloss
church on Sunday when
Catherine Elizabeth,
daughter of Rcv. and
Mrs, Munshaw was
baptized.

ladies' bowling
The ladies opened the
bowling season and after
one night of play three
teams are tied for top
• spot with four points.
The Ducks, Geese and
Chickens all recorded
four -point nights and are
. tied for first • while the
Roosters, Turkeys ,and
Hens are in second place
with three points each.
Marion Cook had the
hot hand rolling a high 222
.single and 524 triple for
the night.

McCRACKEN
James William
McCracken of Wingham
died in University
Hospital, London,
Friday; August 31
following injuries
received in a car accident
in Lucknow August 25. He
was 23.
He was born in
Quesnel, British
Columbia, September 4,
1955, the son of John and
Barbara McCracken.
He is survived by one
brother, John R.
McCracken, Wingham
and four sisters: Mrs.
Brenda Mosurinjohn,
Wingham; Mrs. Karen E,
Cooper, Dawson Creek,
British. Columbia; Mrs.
Koreen J. Hickey,
Teeswater and Miss
Heather G. McCracken at
home. He was
predeceased by his father
John.
He is also survived by
his mother, Barbara J.
Hackett and his step-
father, J. Alvin Hackett.
Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. A.
Cook at the MacKenzie
Funeral Home in
Lucknow, September 2 al
2 p.m.
Pallbearers were John
Crawford, Rick
Stapleton, Terry Har-
court, Franny Schiestel,
Roger Irvine' and Dave
Thompson.
Burial was in Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow.

• Maurice •Elliott
Hodgins, 53 Adelaide St.,
London died suddenly at
his summer home at Lot
14 Concession 10, Kinloss
Township Monday,
September 3. He was 62.
He was born to Alfred
and Adeline Hodgins on
March 7, 1917 in Kinloss
Township.
He is survived by his
wife, the former Vera
Johnston, whom he
married June 2, 1937 at
the JohnstOn homestead
in Kinloss Township.
He is also survived by a
son, Ellwood Hodgins of
London and • three
grandchildren, Gary,
Lori arid Bradley
Hodgins, also of London.
He is survived by one
sister, Mrs. Norinne
Sieloff of Detroit,
Michigan. He was
predeceased ' by a
daughter, Muriel Jean, in
1941. •
Maurice and Vera
moved to London in 1954
•
and attended • All Saints
Anglican Church.
Maurice was a -member
of • Brotherhood 'of
Anglican Churclimen and
also Moose Lodge 1205
and Moose • Lodge
Rainbow Legion,, No. 133.
He worked in a factory
for • 15 years before
retiring due to ill health.
Funeral services were
held ' at • MacKenzie
Funeral. Home, Lucknow
September 6 at 2 p.m.
Rev. G. Garratt con-
ducted funeral services
and graveside services at
Greenhill Cemetery. –
Honorary, pallbearers
were George Enwright,
Ed' Belfitt, Bill Devine
and •'Francis
Buckingham. Active
pallbearers were: Grant
Eckenswiller, Bill Scott,
Barry Johnston, Dr. D.
Hodgins, Elroy Sieloff
and Jim Moss.

Mr. William ,George
Twamley, of 128 Lighthouse
Street, Goderich, died in
University Hospital, London
on August 26, 1979, at the
age of 75.
He was born to George and
Elizabeth Twamley on Aug-
ust 30, 1903, in Ashfield
Township.
He farmed in Ashfield
Township until retirike in
1962.
• He was a member of North
Street United Church.
He is survived by his wife,
• the former Jessie McCann;
• also one brother, Wallace
Twamley, London; and sev-
eral nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
on August 29 at Stiles
Funeral Home with the Rev-
erend RalPh King officiating.
• Interment was in Greenhill
Cemetery at Lucknow.

Den& Marie Brown
died in Bellevue Hospital,
Washington after a short
illness on Friday, August
24. She was 49.
The former Denise
Parent is the beloved wife
of Kenneth W. Brown,
formerly of Dungannon.
Besides her husband she
is survived by one son,
Alan and two daughters,
'Suzanne and Nancy, all at
home.
She is also survived by
her mother, Mrs. Lillie
Parent of Quebec City,
Quebec and two brothers
and one sister and her
father and mother-in-law,
Wilbur and Thelma
Brown of Lucknow.
• Burial was in Bellevue,
Washington.
