Ladies the B championship for ladies softball .at Sports- . fest 79held this ,year in Listowel. Twenty-four teams participated in the tourni: • ment sponsored by the Lake Huron Zone Recreation As- sociation, August 10, 11 and • 12.• The Lucknow team lost their first, game, playing the Listowel Farrows, Friday night. It was a hard fought battle in which the final inning was, the deciding , factor. Lucknow Could not • afford to lose any. more games or they would be eliminated from the tourna- ment. Listowel was defeated by a score of 21 - 11. Home runs were hit by. Pat Boak and Nancy Cameron. Excellent batting by Judy DraPer who hit the first of her-thr‘.home runs during the tournament • contributed to. the win. Going into the semi-finals Sunday morning, LucknOvi played a flawless game ag- ainst the Port Elgin Dunlops, defeating the mt in the fifth inning by a score of 20, - 5. Rome runs were made by Judy Draper and Dona Mac- Donald. • Lucknow was now in con- tention for the champion. Ship. The game, played against Benmiller was very tense, Benmiller losing by one run to the victorious Noisy Ladies. Final score 18 - 17., Another home run was hit by Judy Draper. Every team member des-. • erves special mention for their Superb effort during the tournament.
