, nament game against the Lucknow Kinsmen in Dungannon, Sunday. He was
forced out on the play but the Junior Farmers went on to defeat Lucknow 6-4.
They lost the grand championship game to Kingsbridge 11-0. Kingsbridge
won the league title by topping the 11 entries in the two-day tournament.

Elmira team tops tourney
A very successful lawn
bowling tournament was
held on the local greens on
Labour Day, September 3,
1979.
First prize went to Murray
Brown's rink from Elmira.

Kingsbridge wins area
slowpitch tournament
Kingsbridge captured'
the Lucknow-Dungannon
and " area slowpitch
league championship on
the weekend topping 11
otherentries in the
tournament format.
Kingsbridge took the
league title with a con-
vincing 11-0 win over the
Junior Farmers in the
Grand Championship
game in Dungannon,
Monday.
They went undefeated
in the two-day, tour-
nament and after
receiving • a first round
bye defeating Lanes and
Kinloss to advance to the
championship. They were
awarded a first round bye
after Helm Welding was
unable to field a team.
The Junior Farmers
lost their first game of the
,tournament but
rebounded to win their
next two games to earn a
berth in the cham-
pionship against
Kingsbridge. Theyad-
vanced to the final with a
tough 6-4 win over the
Lucknow Kinsmen to win
the B Division.
Two Lucknow teams
participated in the
tournament. Lucknow
was eliminated in two
straight games while the
Kinsmen reached the
semi-final.
The Kinsmen lost their
first game to Kinloss 11-3
but then eliminated
Lucknow from further
tournamentplay with a
16-7 victory in the second
game. They lost to the
Junior Farmers, 6-4 in
the semi-final.
This year the slowpitch
league abandoned a
formal playoff structure
and opted for the two-day
tournament to decide the
league champions. The
teams participating in
the tourney included;
Kingsbridge, Lanes,
Kinloss, Lucknow,
Lucknow Kinsmen,
Dungannon, North Ash-
field, Port Albert, Junior
Farmers, West
Wawanosh and Belfast.
The league has been in
existence for three years
and grown from four
teams to 12.
