Susan • (Jim).

book and pictures of the
Pollok house in Glasgow
and Fran picked these up
at the Ripley Post Office.
Mrs. McNaughton herself
is Scottish coming over
from the County or
-Kingdom" of Fife. The
Pollok house is really
some mansion - three
storeys, huge rooms, and
great halls, and it has
about a dozen chimneys
in different places and
likely connected to dif-
ferent places. It was
designed by William
Adams in. 1747 and the
building was finished in
1751. In- 1967 the Pollok
house with its Stirling

magnificent art collec-
tion were donated to the
city of Glasgow by Mrs.

the late Sir John Max-
well, the 10th Baron and
as he had no son the
baronetcy, being of Nova
Scotia, is at present in
Abeyance, so the book'
states. It has a 361 acre
park comprising of
beautiful large flower
beds, lawns and
woodlands all cared for
by the _City Parks
Departmen"t. Pollok.
House and Pollok Park
are open to the public. It
also states that the
Polloks Nave been
associated with the
Maxwells for 700 years.
The Maxwells came to
Scotland from Saxony, a
part of Germany, being
driven out by the Nor-
mans. Thanks to Mrs.
