Further to the account of
the 'Veterans' Tour, June 1 '-
June 22, in recognition of the
35th anniversary of "I)
Day", there were 17 people
from this area and nearby
. towns on the tour:from
Lucknow, Eldon and Aileen
Mann, aaren`ce and Marie
Greer, Jim and Isabel Hunt-
er, Charlie and Mayme Wil-
kins; from Wingham, Ted
and Beryl Elliott, George and
Barb Tervit, from Listowel,
Scott and Lois McLean; from
Kincardine, Les Petter, Jack
Tufford, and Herman Young.
• Although this was a military
tour, other interested parties
were welcome. The veterans
attending had seen action in
the Countries visited and at
the sites where the. cere-
•
monies were helSI in France.
The group arrived in Lon-
don, England, June 2 and
toured places of interest
there, leaving hire 4 to cross
the Channel on the ferry to
Dieppe and then to Rouen;
France, where the group of
120 people stayed until June
9. The coaches and English
drivers met them at London
" Airport and were their
transportatipn throughout
the tour. They commuted to
the ceremonies on June 5, 6
and 7 and to the dinner at
Caen, hosted by the Canad-
ian Government.
While on the Continent, the
group was accommodated in
hotels at Rouen- and Paris in
France; Brusselsin Belgium,
Rotterdam and Vianen (near
Amsterdam) in Holland,
Some •places of interest
visited were Dieppe, 'Vimy,
Merlin Gate, and Bergon-op,
Zoom. From Vianen the
group had side trips to Am.
sterdam, Voldtrularn, Ut-
recht and surrounding places
of interest in Holland. Sun-
day, June 17, the three co-
aches, travelling • different
routes took the group to visit
some of the military cemeter-
ies in Holland - Holten, Arn-
hem, Groesbeek and Mook.
The group left on the
return trip the following day,
driving through Belgium and
through -France on the high-
way inland a short distance
from the coast, passing the
coastal towns of Oostende
and Dunkirk, to Calais.

In B.C. they visited Mr.,,

• At Edmonton they spent a
week with Patricia and Steve
Hamilton; Tom Callahan of
Teeswater; Duane, Amy and
• Tom Lee; Brian Timr.ns and
• Jim Macklin of London and
• Gary Radford of Blyth.
They motored to Calgary
to visit Debbie Corrin and
see' the Calgary Stampede.

the home of Mrs. Mae
Stuart, Ross Street on. Thurs-
day, July .26 to celebrate her
• 91st birthday. •Mrs. •Stuart
said she was pleasantly
surprised hyher guests
because she Wasn't even
thinking of her birthday this
year.

- 1979 and throughout the season, the
Municipality may enter upon the said lands ,
and have the weeds destroyed. charging the
costs against the land in taxes, as set out 'in

There they boarded the ferry
for the two hour crossing of
• the Channel to Dover. As the
weather was ideal, they saw
the shoreline of Calais disap-
pear from view • and the
• White Cliffs of Dover appear,
• as they approached England.
Theydrove to Canterbury for
their dinner and overnight
stay at the Hotel. The follow-

land.
• The next two days were
free to do as wished. Some

.Windsor Castle, Aldershot,
