great road rode
William. Robertson of
Toronto drove up from
the city last Wednesday
afternoon for a visit with
friends in the area.
According to all reports
last. Saturday the village
of Ripley was wakened up
last Friday night by a
great road rodeo. It was
held after midnight so it
would be staged during
the early hours of
Saturday morning. Even
Folks on farms near the
village were roused but
the writer slumbered
through it. One of the
contestants raised quite a
furrow of gravel and
crushed stone at the south
side -of the new Huron and
Kinloss. Telephone
building.
The Community
Summer Play School
started on Monday of last
week. With the warm
summer weather
prevailing; each day
Monday to Thursday the
boys and girls along with
their leaders - Barbara.
Grubb, Dawna Rutledge
and Shannon Courtney
met in Gore Park . for
their games.. Last Friday
was a special day. They
went for a trip to
Goderich where they
went. through I the
museum and jail house.
Ripley, will again be a
beehive of activity on .the
last weekend in July as.

the Ripley, -Huron

Legion Hall.

Hospital.
Mrs. Margaret
Gemmell reports that the
Ripley Women's .Institute
are holding their 75th
anniversary tea this
afternoon, July 18. It will
be in. the Ripley Huron
Legion hall and the
Proceeds will go to the
Hospital Auxiliary in
Kincardine. The tea will
be from 2:30- 5:00 p.m,
