Need volunteers to plan centennial
At the first public meeting
held On Thursday evening at
the Agriculture Hall to dis-
cuss plans for 1980's Dun-
gannon centennial, some
headway was made but there
must be more of a turnout.
Another meeting has been
scheduled for Tuesday, July
10 to elect officers and pick
the different `cofnmlttees to
get this . centennial off the
ground.

ety float which placed second
in the Auburn Centennial
Parade,

and Jane_ Chisholm on the
birth of. another son Paul
Derrick on July lst, a brother
for Jamie.
Congratulations to. Mr.
and Mrs. Paul O'Donnell
(nee Elaine Stewart) who
were married on Saturday at
Kingsbridge.
Mrs. Jessie Oliver, a form-
er resident, was buried in
Dungannon Cemetery on
Saturday. She and her sister,
the late Liza McMillan had
resided in the house now
occupied by Alex and. Lynn
Chisholm.
Anyone wishing their
children aged 7 - 11 to be
involved in a .fun. nightof
softball, please contact Mrs.

The young lads and one
lady of the local soccer team
are out with sponsor, sheets
to ,try and collect money to
cover the cost of a proposed
bus trip to Toronto, to see the
Toronto Blizzards and Port-
land Trail Blazers play. They
will be jogging .or walking a
10 kilometer route marked
out for them.
John and Kathie Stanbury
hosted a family barbeque on
Sunday . afternoon attended.

The regular .meeting of
Dungannon Branch of W.L.
was July 5, at the home of
Mrs. Clifford Purdon on a
lovely summer evening.
The president, Mrs. ,Geo.
Errington, welcomed those
present tobegin the meeting
on Public Relations. Mrs.
Gordon Finnigan was pianist
throughout the :evening. The
minutes, treasurer's report
and correspondence were
read by secretary -treasurer,
Mrs. Harry Girvin.
It was agreed tohelp with
a photo display for the 1980
celebration. The invitation to
Huronview birthday party on
August 15th was accepted, to
which the Institute . are to
contribute program and
birthday gifts.
The roll call was answered
by 15 ladies telling "What I
do when I do as I please"
with quite a variety of
answers!
The motto, "The smallest
good deed is better than the
best intention" had interest-
ing illustrations given by
Mrs. Leroy Robson.
All joined in singing, "The
Maple Leaf". The topic,
" Idleshess is Emptiness",

onto visited the Beres on
Saturday.

again from Wingham Hospit-
al after a short stay. We are
very glad to report it wasn't a
heart attack as first thought.

Alliston on Sunday.
DEATHS
The death of Norris Ribey
occured in Wiarton, Ontario
on July 5. The late Norris
Ribey was a brother \of
George Ribey of Seaforth,
son-in-law of Mrs. Amy
Wiggins of Dungannon. 1-Iis
parents, the late Orville and
Mary Ribey had resided in
Colborne Township where
two brothers still reside.
Sympathy is extended to
Mrs. Jean Irwin (Treleaven)
and family on the sudden
death of a husband and
father, Harvey Irwin on
friday evening as the result
of a farm accident. Jean is a
daughter of the late Harvey
Treleaven and Mrs. Treleav-
en who resides in London.
Mrs. Marion Hunt of Dor-
chester spent a few days
visiting with her sister, Mrs.
Dorothy Pentland and hus-
band, Benson, who reside on
the: 6th of Ashfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Biloy, Kristin, Judy and
Scott of Mt. Clemens, Michi-
gan have returned to their
given . by Mrs. Clifford

was collected, and the poems
were both ' humorous and
serious.
For Dominion Day theme
some Canadian history was
reviewed by examining,
stamps, coins and bills, and
the list of Canada's prime
ministers.
The hostess, Mrs. Mary
Errington and Mrs. Girvin
served sandwiches and re-
lishes, and the meeting dos-
ed in the usual way. The
ladies again examined the
crafts on display before leav-
ing.

lin of Detroit, het daughter,
Sheilagh . Knays and sons,

of the O'Loughlin family
members camped at the
MacKenzie Camp who at-
tended the O'Loughlin reun-
ion at Kingsbridge on Sun-
day.

tended the retirement party
in Ripley on Sunday: for Mrs.
Isobel Martyn - and Mrs.
Catherine Collins, among
them, Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Martyn and. family.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob McIn-
tosh were guests at the
Cook -Simpson wedding dur-
ing the past weekend.
Mr. and. Mrs. Kelso Mac -
Nay and daughter, Evelyn
have been hospitalized in
Wingham Hospital for the
past month. .

tended a wedding in Farm-
ington, Michigan, during a
recent weekend.

preached the seventh in the
series of semonson Genesis,
"Noah and the Flood". Miss
Helen Elliott sang . a ;solo,
"Did you stop to Pray?" The
flowers in the church were a
reminder of the recent pass-
ing of William Berry.
A community shower in
honour of Miss Sherry Boak
is being held in the Sunday
School room on Wednesday
evening.
The annual Vacation Bible
School begins on July 16 in
the two churches, Dungan-
non United and Christian
Fellowship.. -

daughter of Mr. and Mrs..
Lawrence and with her hus-
band and family of six,. is
visiting in Ontario from
South Africa, She -told incid-
ents relating to a mission-
ary's life that were chal-
lenging and amusing.

lunch afterward and every-
one enjoyed a time of inform-
al fellowship.

Lester Kehl from Floradale
Church gave the message at
the second of five drive-in
Sunday evening services.
A ladies trio from the same
church supplied the music.
Rev. Westhaver led in
prayer and read a scripture
reading.
