The Lucknow Sentinel, 1979-07-11, Page 10PIC 10-1,nckagw Sentinel, W. ednes,day, July 11, 1979 Ripley couple fly to B.C. for son's wedding BY AB WYLi3S On Tuesday of last week Mr. and Mrs. Wray Osborne of the 15th north drove Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brooks of Ripley to Toronto "airport. From . there Jim and Isabel flew to British Columbia to attend the wedding of their son Carson Brooks. Former native of the tenth concession of Huron township, Arthur Bell Patterson passed away on Monday July 2, 1979 in Scarborough General Hospital. The funeral service• was held last Wednesday afternoon in Agincourt, his home town. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Patterson of the 10th concession of Huron twp., he is sur- vived by his wife Mildred and five daughters - Sheila, Sharon, Pat, Gail, and Brenda and seven grandchildren. Here Art is survived by his sister Katherine_ - Mrs. Burton Collins of Purple Grove, and brother Gordon on the homestead, lOth con. Tothem is extended sympathy at this time of their bereavement. Locally he attended S.S. number 3 public school on the 15thnorth of Ripley and then Ripley Continuation School. He was assistant 'superin- tendent of • the Scar- borough Board of Education for the past 15 years. Prior to that he was principal of the Agincourt Collegiate and then principal of the David Mary Thompson. in Scarborough. He at- tended the retirement party held for his sister Katherine.. Mrs. Beatrice Collins of the Ripley Huron Legion Auxiliary wishes the folks in .the area to know that the ladies of the Auxiliary will hold a rummage 'sale and bake table at the Legion hall . on next Saturday afternobsn, July. 14 at one p.m. Anyone wishing to' donate may leave donations at. the Legion Hall either on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. It was nice to see Reg. Moore back home to Ripley this past weekend. Reg is able to get around and talk with friends. here. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Murray took Reg. back to Victoria Hospital on Sunday. Former native of the Sixth concessionwest in Huron township Mrs. Grace Farnell (Keane) of Hamilton and her friends Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Deyo of Rochester, New York State called on Mrs. 'Adeline Hackett last Tuesday, Grace and Adeline were cross -the - road neighbours on the sixth. They also called to see Fran and AbWylds. Miss Brenda- van Kc,oten of the Sauble- Hepworth area visited this last week with her friend Miss Cathy Fludder on Malcolm •. Street. Before her family moved from Ripley, Brenda was a classmate with Cathy and is well known here. ,In Sep- , • tember ,she will be in Grade nine in Wiarton District High School. Summer Play School for this area started on Monday morning of this week, July 9. Leaders in charge are Barbara Grubb, recent graduate of Western University in London, Shannon Courtney and ' Dawna Rutledge. Forty-three girls " andboys are enrolled at present. Harold and Tena Wyld of Weston were in Ripley last weekend 'visiting their son John and wife Karen and other relatives. In London for a day last week were Evelyn Johnson, Carol Fludder and Elsie Forrester. The trucks are still `busy rolling through Ripleyhauling fill to build up the road bed on the 15th north. The traffic barricades have been -" removed but the caution signs for motorists are still in place. Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacLeod of Windsor, Mr. Delmar Gossel of Calgary, Alberta were visitors with Mrs. Donalda Gossel last week. Dr. and Mrs. Goldie Emerson spent Sunday at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Sam Emerson.
