Mary Seljultz. • 409 squadron R.C.A.F. held their annual overseas re -union at the hdme of Alvin and Cora Sherwood of Dun- gannon. Guests were present from Dunnville, Hamilton, Chatham, Woodstock, Tor- onto, Galt, Mimico, Cooks- ville, Ridgeway, Carlisle and Clarkson. Dinner was held at the Benmiller Mr. and Mrs. Jack Storey of Chatham spent the week end as guests of. Mr. and • Mrs. A. J. Sherwood. Don't forget the public, meeting called for July 5th at the Agriculture Hall to dis- cuss plans for Dungannon's 125th anniversary in 1980. Everyone should show some interest in their own com- munity. Sympathy to Mrs. Flor- ence Berry anpl kmily on the sudden -p -a -Mg of Mr. Bill Berry on :Saturday while on route to London Hospital via ambulance. Sympathy is extended to the families•of the late Hazel Edna (Carr) McWhinney who passed away at the home of her daughter, Irene on Mon- day, June 18th. Sympathy also to Mrs. Ruby (Curran) Anderson and three sons on the death of their husband and father, Lin Anderson, on Friday, June 29th at Goderich. Burial was Monday in Dungannon Cem- etery. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Fer- guson and Kimberley of Woodstock called on Bill and • Marie Park and family on Saturday. They were in the area attending a family reun- ion. Congratulations to Betty Culbert and Brad Lewis who were married at Dungannon United Church on Saturday, June 30th. Ross McDonald of Ottawa visited with his moth- er, Lill McDonald, over the weekend and attended some of the activities held in Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Park, Patti, Todd and Bdd spent Monday in Goderich with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ashton. • Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Rudow, nee Bertha Jones of Elmira visited on Monday with Mel Jones. Mary Smith is a patient in Wingham Hospital following a heart attack on Sunday evening. BRIDAL SHOWER A bridal shower was held on Wednesday, June 27th at Dungannon United Church for Elaine Stewart. Carol Reed played a mus- ical interlude while the ladies were seated. A musical quiz was put on by Jean Elliott. Mrs. Debbie Culbert favour- ed with a solo while Judy McMichael played the piano. Dorothy Pentland gave a reading. Donna McClenag- han introduced the excellent entertainment and read the address to the bride-to-be. Elaine received many beautiful and useful gifts for which she expressed her gratitude. The shower was brought to an end by the serving of a delicious lunch- eon. SPORTS On Monday evening, June 25, Dungannon A's girls softball team defeated Port Albert by a 14 - 7 score at Port Albert. The "Beez" also proved •victorious by a 42-6 score 'over Lucknow in • a game played in Dungannon. In the slo-pitch league on Tuesday evening, June 26 at Lucknow, Dungannon de- feated the Kinsmen 18 - 7 and at Dungannon on Tues- day evening North Ashfield defeated Belfast. On Wed- nesday evening at Dungan- non diamond, Kingsbridge defeated Kinloss by a 17 - 10 work,. On Sunday morning', Gay gave the message in church, emphasizing the truth that to be effective witnesses we should have Calvary bold- ness, love, power and sacra- fice. Lawfrence's son, Robert, with his wife and family were also weekend visitors from the Sault Ste. Marie area, Robert sang two SQ10S, "It is well . with my soul", and "Does Jesus Care?". Harry gave the message at the first of five drive-in evening services held on the property of Peter Martin, on Sunday evening. The mes- sage was centred around the verse, "There is a way that 'seemeth' right...," A mixed sional of grade 8 graduates to their seats. Mrs. Marion Zinn made, a few remarks on behalf, of the Huron County Board of Education. Mrs. Madeline Anderson and Mr. Don Cameron introduced the graduates and Mr. Jewitt presented the diplomas. Mrs. Bere introduced the guest speaker, Miss Armitt. Robin Markham spoke a few words of appreciation to Miss Armitt on behalf of the students. CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH Harry and Gay Oosthuyzen and six children from Africa are visiting Gay's parents, Mr. and Mrs. • Lawrence. Harry is principal of the Xhosa Bible School near South Africa. Miss Armitt, who is now retiring after 32 years association with U.W.O. has been Dean of Part-time Stud- - ies and, is proud of the wide range of extension courses offered by U.W.O., even as far as Port Elgin • and Walkerton. She gave the graduates some sound advice laced with humour. Donnybrook ladies catered to the banquet and were thanked by Kendra Purdori.
