Mrs. Grace Campbell, ac-
companied by Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Flaetzer, Auburn,
attended the 60th wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
Wm,. Tremain, Guelph.
About 60 relatives attend-
ed the lawn party at their
daughter's home, 28 Roland
Street, Guelph, where a
sumptuous dinner was serv-
ed.
Mr. and Mrs. Tremain
were married June 18, 1919
at the bride's parents' farm
in Arthur Township by the
late Rev. Clare Eddy.
They farmed in Arthur
Township until retiring in
Guelph in 1955. Mrs. Tre-
main is the former Verna
Campbell, sister of the late

Mary Catherine Elizabeth
(Beth) Alton Sherwin died on
Monday, June 18, 1979 after
a lengthy illness at the
Fairview Nursing Home,
Brandon, Manitopa. She was
72.
Born in Ashfield Township
on April 3, 1907, she lived at
Crono for 20 years. She
received a County Scholar-
ship for a course in Home
Economics at MacDonald
Institute in Guelph. She held
office in the Bruce County

ation, the Junior Institute in
Lucknow and the Women's
Institute.
She moved with her hus-
band, Wilfred Sherwin and
their three sons, Donald,
Douglas and Keith in, Bran-
d= in 1954 where she con-
tinued her W.I. work. She
was also an active member of
the St. Paul's United Church
and the Brandon Drop -In
Centre.
She is survived by her
sons, Donald and his wife,
Lot1ise, and their children,
Korey and Greg of Winni-
peg; Douglas of Pheonix,
Arizona; Keith and his wife,
Marilyn of Brandon. A sister,
Mrs. Hazel Edna
McWhinney, formerly of
Ashfield Township, died
suddenly at her
daughter's home in West
Wawanosh Township on
Monday, June 18 at the
age of $3.
She was born in
Wingham on April 27,
1896 to Williarn and Eliza
(Johnston) Carr.
She was married to D.
Lloyd McWhinney who
predeceased her — sOn
February 20, 1970.
She Was .a member of
Lucknow Presbyterian
• Church.
Besides fier husband,
she was predeceased .by
one sister, Mrs. Carman
(Irene) Hayden.
She is survived by five
children, Mrs. Glen
(Norma) Robinson of
Parksville, B.C., Mrs.
Albert (Lois) Nevill of
Vienna, Mrs. Gordon
(Irene.) Sproul of West ;
'Wawanosh Township,
Harold of Ashfield
Township and William
also of Ashfield Town-
ship; one sister, Miss Iva
Carr of West Wawanosh
Township ; two brothers,
Harry and Edgar Carr,
both of West Wawanosh
Township; ten grand-
children and seven great-
grandchildren.
A funeral service was
held at McCallum
Funeral Home \iri
Goderich on Wednesday,
June , 20 at 2 p.m. The
Reverend William
Muffgliawiifficiated.
Interment was in
Dungannon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack I,
Pentland, Ross Henry, I
Howard Johnston, Hugh
McWhinney, ' Carman
Pollock and Elmer Black.
Flower bearers were
Allan McWhinney, Larry
Pollock and Ralph
Matthews.
Lillian Sedwich and her
husband, Gene of Lone Pine,
California, a brother, Walter
Alton of Lucknow and many
nieces and nephews in Ont-
ario also survive.
Funeral service was held
on Friday, June 22, 1979 at 2
p.m. at the MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home,
Lucknow with interment in
Greenhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Russell
Alton, Frank Alton, Wendall
Alton, Gordon Alton, Glen
Walden and Gordon Finni-
gan.
Flower bearers were Kevin
Alton, Jamie Alton, Ruth-
anne Alton and Grace Alton.

The couple have a family;
of five sons and one daught-
er, Lawrence, Hagersville;
Arthur, Sarnia; Ivan, Bramp-
ton; Glenn, Frulton; Gordon,
Orillia and Freda, Mrs. N.
Whiteside, Guelph.
They have 11 grandchild-
ren and 9 great grandchild-
ren.
They received a clock and
a purse of money from their
family and table and chairs
from relatives.
Floral arrangements and
numerous,gifts marked the
occasion as well as several
telegrams including one from
Queen Elizabeth. A City of
Guelph plate was presented
by Mayor N. Jary and a
plaque wasliresented by MP
Hairy Warton. They also
received a message of con-
gratuations from Premier
William Davis.
