Ruth Johnston. of Ashfield makes delightful Raggedy :Ann dolls for the children of, her
'friends and "friends. of 'a friend". When s e lived 1n Jamaica she made the dolls' with
b'rown,skin and blaek hair instead of the.'famillar white face beneath a. mop, of :red or orange
yarn. It takes 20 hours 'to complete •a doll and the face and hair are hand sewn. Ruth uses
gay Prints for'tha, clothes and she makes the scraps into patch work quilts.
