There was an at- tendance of 31, and 19 of these were Gran,dmothers. The president, Mrs. Shirley Hackett, welcomed the ladies and called the meeting to order. Mrs. Shirley Irvin opened the devotions with a poem, "Song of Service". The scripture was from Prov- erbs, and Mrs. Honie Scott gave the meditation, "When Your Neighbour Needs Help". Mrs. Irvin and Mrs. Scott presented a skit, "A Line on Neighbours": The devotions closed with a pray- er and hymn. • Mrs, Ruth Alton played two accordian solos, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Whis- pering Hope". Mrs. Belle Hackett and Mrs. Wilma Blake presented an article on "Human Rights in South Africa", and the Bible Study was given by Mrs. Ella Hackett. The roll call. was answered by "An incident from our childhood that we particular- ly remember". Mrs. Ella Hackett was in charge of the program, with several contests. The lady with the family ring with the most stones in it, Mrs. Tom Hackett, Lucknow; the youngest grandchild, Mrs: Janet Cook, Lucknow; who Donnybrook -UCW discuss gardens. The June meeting of Don- nybrook U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. H. Jeffer- son on Monday night, June 11 with a good attendance. Mrs. E. Robinson gave the call to worship. Mrs. Wm. Hardy read Psalm 121 followed with the meditation read by Mrs. E. Robinson. Mrs. G. McDon- Exchange garden hints Unit #3 of Lucknow u.g.w. met in the church parlour on Tuesday; June 5 with 13 members present. Mrs. Cook welcomed every- one, and opened with a poem, "My Hallowed Place". A prayer followed by Mrs. Cook. The roll call was answered by the name of a spring flower and a garden hint. Mrs. Jardine gave the treas- urer's report and Mrs. Cook gave the report from the Brownie and Guide banquet. Mrs., Cook closed the business part of the meeting with a prayer for "Wisdom". They joined Units #1 and #2 in the fellowship room, with, Unit #2 in charge of the' program. St. Helens UCW meet for pot -luck. The St. Helens U.C.W. held their meeting at Miss Isobel Miller's home on June 12, 1979: A bountiful "pot luck" supper preceded the meet- ing. Eight ladies and one child attended. Mrs. Gordon McPherson was in charge of the worship serVice. Mrs. Frank McQuil- lin read the scripture. Mrs. McPherson had a prayer. Mrs, Frank- McQuillin had an interesting story on the. life of Robert McClure, form- er moderator of the United Church of Canada. Mrs. MCQuiflin read the minutes of the last meeting nell gave the prayer;Mrs. E. Snowden gave a reading on Stewardship followed with prayer by. Mrs. E. Robinson.. Mrs. E. gobinson gave a reading, "The Common Man", followed with a dis- cussion on garden problems. Mrs. G. McConnell gave a reading, "If you have., a garden". The scripture was, read by Mrs. E. Robinson followed ..111 with a reading, "God's Lug- ' gage Shop", by Mrs. G. McConnell. Mrs. McConnell gave the closing prayer. Mrs. H. Jefferson took over for the business. An invitation from Calvin Brick was accepted and there was discussion on the coming banquet on June 26. A social time followed with Mrs. S. A poem, "Grandma's Glassess', was read by Mrs. Ella Hackett and a reading on "Grand- mas" by Mrs. Belle Hackett. The business followed, then the meeting closed with the singing of a hymn and the closing prayer.
