Kinlough beef producers take Ottawa buy trip

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mur-
ray, president of Bruce
County Beef Producers, Jack
Barr and. Don Bushell went
on the beefproducers.' bus
tour to Ottawa, visiting on
Tuesday at the Parliament
Buildings and other places of
interest.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gra-
ham and Mrs. George Gra-
ham were guests on Friday
evening at the Rettinger-
Cassidy wedding at Teeswat-
er.
The village Women's Mis-
sionary Societies will be
guests of the Kinloss
at their Thankoffering meet-
ing.
Mrs. Laural Hewitt of
London, Mr. and Mrs: Tom
Ellacott of Toronto visited
with Mrs.. George Graham.
Vicki and Julie Brown are
with their grandma, Mrs.
Bertha Haldenby, while their
parents are . in Vancouver
looking, for a ;new home.
Mr. and Mrs. John Scott
were dinner guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs.. Ray-
nard Ackert on Thursday
evening.
Mrs. Marretta Hodgins
has gone to Niagara for a
couple of weeks with Mr. and
' Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and
the girls. ' •
Mr. and Mrs. John `Scott
and Edna and May Boyle.
were Sunday evening .dinner
Wests with Mrs. Mary Boyle
of London and all attended
the 'opening service of the
122nd Session of the Dioces-
an Synod: at St.. Pauls' Cath-
edral.

W.M.S. of Lucknow Presby-
terian Church was . held •on
June, 6 in .the church hall.
Mrs. J. E. Little opened the
meeting with an appropriate
verse.
The scripture and medita-
tion were taken by .Mrs.
Austin Loree. The theme' was •.
"the man with a withered _.
arm". Mrs. Loree'noted that
we all have many desires but
our "withered hand" keeps
us from doing these things at•
the right time.
Prayer , was offered by ,
Mrs. Morgan Henderson.
The topic on Contempor-
ary China was' ably taken by
.Mrs. Jim Aitchison. She told
of Chinese people 'living in
villages in a home of two
rooms. We would call such
homes. primitive, for there
are . no modern conveniences
such as 'we have in Canada.
They raise vegetables, ' pigs
and rice. Nearly one billion
people. live in China` to -day'
but life is easier than many
years ago.
gave an interesting talk on
Scottish songs. Mrs. William
Stanley closed the meeting
with prayer and a social hour
followed.
Mrs. William Porteous
were Mr, and Mrs; Leonard
Lake of Niagara Falls and
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McFarlan
of Greenock.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Page
returned home after enjoying
a trip to England where they
spent .the past few weeks
visiting, with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Midford
Wall enjoyed a conducted
bus tour to New York State.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barr,
Susan, Jeannette and Gary
Fair visited with Mr. and
'Mrs. Gilbert Hamilton at
Lucknow on Sunday, it being
the occasion of Mr. Hamil-
ton's 75th birthday. We

and' Mrs. Morley Bushell of

aby, B.C. where they purch-
'ased a new home. Their
daughters whohave been
with their grandma returned
to Brockville with them. They
will be moving from Brock-
ville' to North Burnaby:

Whitechurch U.C.W. held
their -June meeting on Wed-
nesday, June 6 at the parson-
age at Bluevale. The topic
was Christian . Leadership
and Development, with Mrs.
Lorne Durnin leader.
Colleen Adams led in
prayer.. Mrs. Sleightholm
read. the scripture.' Elizabeth,
Tiffin gave a meditation.
Mrs. . Durnin gave the
definition of a leader and
read an article of hardships
of the children in the past.
This day, in. t'he`Year of the
Child, it is hoped . children
have' it. better. K quarter of
the children in. Canada are
still poor . and one in ten
infants die in Canada.
Eleven answered the roll
call . with . a Bible verse.
Agnes Farrier and Mrs.
Thompson gave reports on
the weekend retreat at West-
minster. Rev. Brown closed
- the meeting with prayer: The
birthday, tea . followed.
