Pauline McGibbon attends WI 75th anniversary The highlight event in the 75 year history of the Ripley Women's Institute was the visit of the Ontario Lieutenant Governor the Honourable Pauline McGibbon last Wednesday afternoon. The banquet was held in St. Andrew's United Church where ladies of the church prepared and se ved the meal and the on. Pauline McGibbon addressed the -gathering and talked with the members. Mrs. Annie (Hamilton) MacKinnon and Miss Gertrude Kidney are patients in Kincardine and District Hospital at present. GOLDEN WEDDINGS The past weekend was the occasion for two Ripley couples to celebrate Their Golden wedding anniversaries. On Saturday Mr.. and Mrs. Redvers Johnson held their evening open house in Huron Township while' on Sunday it was the time for Mr. and Mrs. Bert Irwin... Congratulations of. Mrs. Howard Thom- pson spent -a few days with Mrs. Helen Smith,. London. While there, she visited with her husband who is a patient in University Hospital. Guelph was a weekend visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacKay, Carol and Dianne. Nancy, a student at the university of Guelph, provided the special music . for the. morning anniversary service at 'the Ripley Knox Presbyterian Church on Sun. May 27. Two ladies of the fourth concession of Huron. township recently received their. B.A. degrees at the summer convocation at Sir Wilfrid Laurier. University in Waterloo. Congratulations of the local people are extended to both on •completion : of their courses. They are Miss Joyce Black, daughter of Walter and Mary, Black; and Mrs: Bernadette Catherine, wife of Jim Scott of Ripley and daughter of Mr. ; aid Mrs. Joseph Keiffer of Teeswater.Mr.. and Mrs. Jim Scott live on the Bill Hooey farm., Mrs. Scott is employed, by the Vanastra Recreation Centre while Miss Black will attend Teacher's College in Kingston next year. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Emerson visited, recently with Dr. and Mrs. Goldie Emerson in London. Mrs. Yvonne Mileham '(:Morgan) visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Emerson. Mr. Walter De Wolf, who owns the Craft and Hobby shop where the _Ripley Drug' Store was once located on main street married Jean Johnny Dodds. On their return home they were happily greeted by friends gathered in . a midnight party this past week. FIREMEN ACTIVE On Tues. May 29, it was a real day of activity for the Ripley Firemen. The weather was ideal,warm, calm, and sunny. So early in the day they super- vised the burning of the remains of :the barn on, the back of Mrs. Violet IacKenzie's place in Ripley.
