[Sentinel Staff Photo] Maitland Presbyerial meet at Brussels Mrs. Don ' Robertson . of Kinlough presided at Melvil- le Presbyterian Church, Brussels, for the May meet- ing, and opened the after- noon session with thoughts .on the theme, "Prayer". Mrs. Wm. King Jr. was organist. Devotions. were conducted by • Mrs. Orville Taylor, Mrs. Walter Burton and Mrs George Turner of Kincardine W.M.S. In Mrs. Burton's meditation, the top- ic was "Pray: at •all times Mrs: Gerald Gibson wel.• corned the ladies to Brussels Church. Duets —Whiter than. Snow" and "He put a new song 4n my ,. mouth" were sung by Mrs.. Gibson and her daugher,,, Mary; Douma. Rev. Tom Boyd of Meaford brought greeti.n.gs. from, Bruce:Maitland Presbytery and expressed appreciation for the work of women: in the, church. • An ::Honourary: ,Member- ship was presenteid to Mrs. Burns Moffat, Bluevale, her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Golley, on behalf of the Presbyterial. • Mr. 'Ted' Snaith, National Co-ordinator for the Second Century Advance for Christ, was introduced by Mrs. Alvin Mundell, Gorrle. He spoke on this work and explained it ' included . (1) Prayer. and Bible Study (.2) Witness and Outreach and (3) 4Financial Response. .Books and other literature have been prepared and are available to all congrega- tions. He urged us to go back to our own church and help • this projectoto progress. He showed pictures of different aspects of thework across_ Canada and overseas, and how the money will be used. Mrs. Lyman Sutton of Teeswater conducted the "In Memoriam". Synodical Reportswere given by:Mrs. Walter Burt- on,' Mrs. Herb Buckton and Mrs. Morgan Henderson. The , theme of the Synodical held in Goderich was "The Light of the World". The offering was received, and dedicated by Mrs'. •Gord. 'on Wall of .Wingham. The afternoon session dos- - 'ed with a hyalin, and prayer by Mrs. Don . MacAdam, Belmore The ladies of Brussels churchserved supper. The evening session open- ed with a hymn sing led by Mrs. Bob B.reginan, Tees - water. This included the Maitland theme song. Mrs. Don Robertson, Kin lough presided and spoke on the theme "Share" as a call to worship. Devotions on the th.emel were conducted , by Mrs. Murray Underwood, Mrs. Bob Campbell and Mrs. John. •Donaldson of Wingham Go- forth. Mrs. Joe: Martin welcomed. the ladies to the evening -session. Bob Campbell report- ed .on • the last session of Synodical at which Miss Margaret Kennedy spoke. She is a retired missionary from India. .. Mr. "Ted' Smith was in- troduced by Mrs. Robertson and again spoke on the Secotrd Century Advance for Christ, and showed pictures. He said "A man is not rich in what he has, but in what he . gives!'. "Everyone who has taken part ,..has been bles-... sed." He asked the members to challenge their congrega- tions to give one day's pay in 1978. and again in 1979. Of 200 aid -receiving congrega- tions, 35 are now self-sup- porting. The offering was received, and dedicated by Mrs. David Henderson of• Ripley. Knox Church, Bluevale, extended -an invitation_ for next year's meeting at their church. Miss Maudie Fisher, Luck - now, gave the courtesies. The meeting closed with a hymn and prayer by Mrs. Ewan. MacLean, Ashfield.
