Speaks to Jr. Farmers Professor Josephine Meeker spoke to the Wes' Huron Junior Farmers about Century farm signs at their meeting on May 14. The club made plans for their family dance at Brook- side School during the meet- ing. They have just finislitd plantingsome 4,000 trees for a local farmer and are looking into the planting of trees at thaucknow Medical Centre where they erected a sign last year. The club will gather on June 9 to repaint their food booth which they will be using this summer. Ian Hackett, president, opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Mr. Van •Osch gave an interesting explanation of his dairy operation. Secretary Heather Ann '- Stapleton gave the roll call • which preceded , preparation for the annual Judging Com- petition. For this, all club members participated in jud- ging corn, grain and mature dairy Cows. After taking up the official placings of the classes, monthly papers were distributed for study. The members were taken to the barn tojudge a class of dairy cows. Reasons were given by .the members, and Barry Elliott gave the official placing of the class. The meeting was then taken to the house where the- , minutes of the last meeting were read by, secretary, Kay MorriSOn. The junior and senior .noembers were then split up into groups. Quizzes on livestock feeding were completed and discussed. . The meeting was closed with,a delicious lunch served by Mrs: Elliott.
