Word was 'received here
recently of the death of Dr.
Gordon O'Neil of Seattle,
Washington at age 70. His
mother was the former,
Neilina Blake O'Neil. The
Blake family formerly resid-
ed on the 6th concession of
Ashfield.
Visitors on Sunday with
Mr. Mel Jones were Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Marsh and daugh-
ter, Betty of Auburn.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor
of Auburn visited on Sunday
with Bill and -Marie Park,
Pat, Todd and Brad.
Visitors over the weekend
with Marvin and Evelyn.
Smith were Mrs. William
Garton and Mrs. Shirley
Frederick of ' Leamington,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith and
family- of Chatham and Mrs,
Tena Mastromatteo and fam-
ily of Windsor.

tq the Mary Maxim factory at
Paris, a stop at a craft house
ai Vineland and finally Mar-
ineland at Niagara• Falls.
• Several interested area resid-
ents also enjoyed the trip.

welcomed visitors, including
members of the Treleaven
family, on the occasion of the
presentation to the church of
• the trowel used by the late
Rev. •R. J. Treleaven D.D.
when he laid the first cornef-
stone to this church on July
22nd, 1909. The trowel, to be
put in the display of histor-
ical items in a cabinet on the
north wall, is the gift of Mrs.
Hugh (Treleaven) Murray of
Hamilton. Mrs. Cecil Blake
exlained the history of the
trowel and introduced Dr. R.
' B. Treleaven, grandson- of
Rev. R. J. Treleaven, who

came to the school to talk
about Nursing to the Grade 8
Guidance class. She told
about some of her experienc-
es and fhe training necessary
to become a nurse, which
proved interesting for the.
class.
The Softball schedule has
begun at Brookside with
keen competition between
the teams.
On Friday, • May 25, Brook-
side will • be holding Field
Day, starting at 9:30 a.m..
and going- until 3.15 p.m.
Parents are invited to come
and watch their children par-
ticipate in the events.

The May meeting was held
at the home of Mrs. -Eslie
Irvin with 14 ladies and one
guest answering roll call.
Mrs. Amy Wiggins opened

from, Matthew. Miss Beth
McConnell read the scripture
and led in prayer. ' Mrs.
Donna' Alton gave a reading,
"Touch the Hem of His
Garment". The devotional
was a poem, "Between
People, bridges".
Mrs. Amy Wiggins presid-
ed for the business meeting,
Minutes were read by sec-
retary Mrs. Tinie Logtehberg
and adopted as read. It was
decided to sponsor a child to
Camp • Menesetung, Plans
were discussed re U.C.W.
• helping serve at church
picnic on -Sunday, May 27.
Mrs. Helen Dawson gave the
'financial report and men-
tioned that the Commemora-
tive Plates with the picture of
• the Dungannon United,
Church are :now available
from'anY U.C.W. member at
$4.00 a,plate. A quilt as.
• quilted at. the church during
the last week of April,
Discussion was held on
packing a bale in the near
future. This was left with the
World Outreach and Church
and Society committees. 'A
committee was appointed to
plan for catering to upcoming
weddings:
Lunch was served by host-
esses, Mrs. Gloria Pearson,
Mrs. Doris Culbert and Mrs.
Elsie Irwin.
