The host branch was Kincardine WI. The theme was "Enjoy the year of the child", Mrs. Ross Cumming'chair- ed the meeting, opening with a sing along led by the Lucknow W.I. The devotions were by Holyrood WI read- ing the scripture and thoughts on the theme. The minutes of the last district annual were read. by the secretary, Mrs, Gordon Wall. Mrs. William Middle- ton FWIO board member urged branches to take bus trips to the Erland Lee Home. She also said there was great .concern of*an additive (Analog) being ad- ded to ground beef as an extender, which reduces the protein value 35 per cent. The women's concern was the school children, as ham- burg is used in school cafet- erias. Mrs. Cecil Hollands was delegate to the Officers' Conference in Waterloo in May and gave an intersting report. Mrs. William Arnold for the Tartan committee told the meeting she has a cup and saucer for sale. Mrs. Victor Emerson reported as curator, terminating six years in office. Mrs. Cecil Holi.ands is her successor. The afternoon session op- ened again with a sing along. The 1n4 Memoriam was given by Mrs. Allan MacDougall of Kairshea WI. Home Economist Barb De- Visscher gave information as to the 4-11 courses and senior courses for the fall. The president, Mrs. George Fish- er, referred to the "Inter- national Year of the Child" in her report. She called it a year of learning. The child today is for tomorrow she said and we must set an example for the child. The posters, based on the International Year of the Child, were judged. Nine branches were entered.
