The festival may remember the baby,
but the baby isn't apt to remember the
festival where a lullabye, written in her
honor, was played by the 11 -year-old
composer, Wendy Craig.
At three weeks, Regan Arlene MacNay
is a newcomer to testivais. A Lullabye
For Someone Special, was written in -
March, even before it was known
whether that special someone would be
a boy, or girl.
The composer, Wendy Craig of
Wiarton, has been composing music
Since she was six. This composition is
her favourite because it was written for
her music teacher's new daughter. The
other two MacNay children are boys.
Wendy is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Craig of Wiarton. She is
the youngest in a family of four and the
only one who appears destined for', a
possible future in music. She first began

with Arlene MacNay of Wiarton for
about five years.
" It has been five years since her
compositions were first used in the Grey
County Kiwanis Festival of Music. 'At
the fair,; her first effort, was dedicated
to a pony and a donkey. She has since
written Leaves, Moods of the Wind,
Nursery Rhymes and now A. Lullabye
for Someone Special.
The composition, had to be sent to
Toronto for adjudication before accept -1
ance into the festival. The adjudicator's
comments were "The piece is gener-
ally most effective and so well shaped.
Ideas are well exploited and one comes
up with the feeling of a very talented
and musical youngster, one not afraid of
exploring chords quite removed from
those of the basic key. Good work
indeed!"
For her composition Wendy was
awarded a mark of 83, the top mark in
the class.
Wendy's musical talents aren't limit-
ed to piano and composing. She studies
violin under Doug Handforth and was
previously studying with Malcolm Lacey
of St. Catharines.
Behind a scattering of freckles and a
pair of blue eyes is a talented young girl
who loves children and animals. She has
time for homework, piano duets, her
cats and the family dog, Buster.
If nothing gets in the way of present
plans, Wendy will either be a pediatric-
ian or a veterinarian, thatorder
