The attendance was good. George Brophy acted as chairman. Rev. A. Sonderup asked the blessing and Rev. J. Swan gave the thanks- giving. Chairman Brophy intro- duced the. head table. The guest speaker, Connie Os- born, .National. President for the Alliance for Life, was introduced by Adrian Keet. Mrs. Osborn said in her. address this is the 10th year since the laws Were changed - to "abortion on demand". She said the laws were changed as a result of subtle pressure from groups who were masquerading as en- lightened individuals, while they were really pro -abor- tionists who mutilate physic- ally and spiritually. Mrs. Osborn called atten- tion to `.`The Year of the Obituary EDITH [FREEMAN] JOYNT Edith Florence Joynt, died at Pinecrest. Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow, Wednes- day, April,25th, 1979, after a lengthy illness. She was in her 88th year. Mrs. Joynt was the daugh- ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Freeman and"wasborn in 'Peterborough, Ontario. On Septeniber 10th, 1913, she . married John Wesley Joynt, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Joynt and moved. into the 'former John Joynt. residence on Ross Street. Mrs. Joynt had given valued and faithful service to her church, Lucknow United, and to her community. Ont - standing amongthese is her record. of choir 'service. She had served continuously as leader for some 45 years. She • was a life --member . of ' the U.C.W: and memberof the Order of the. Eastern Star. • She is survived by one son, George Joynt of Lucknow; two granddaughters, Jane, Mrs. Wm O'Hara, and, Kathy Joynt, both. of Tor- onto. Mrs. Joynt • was prede ceased by her husband, John Wesley Joynt, and two -broth- ers, Dc. Wm. Freeman, and Harold' Freeman. ' The funeral -was held from the MacKenzie and Mc- Creath Funeral Home, Luck - now, on Saturday, April 28th, •1979' at 2 o'clock, conducted by, Rev.. Doug. Kaufman. Interment follow- ed at Greenhill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Alex McNay, A. E. McKim, Raynard Ackert, Clarence Greer, George .Anderson. Pallbearers were Roy Fin- layson, Andrew Ritchie, Alex Andrew, Virden Mowbray; Dr.. M. H. : Corrin; Harvey Webster.,. Monica Jolie thanked the speaker for her informative address. Joan Van Den As- sem read the minutes of the 1978 annual meeting. Adrian Keet moved the minutes be adopted, seconded by Janet Sterenbery. In her annual report, Sally Campeau, Wingham Pro -Life group president; expressed her optimism by referring to the many donations received and the dedication of the Wingham group concretely attested to by the turnout for the annual meeting. She also outlined a list' of activities and events for the corning year including sales, a 'walkathon, pro life float, school programs, etc. Adrian Keet thanked 'Sallyfor her effort during her term as president.. Richard Campeau present- edthe annual financial report and moved to accept it which was seconded by Adel Chat- tleburg. Betty O'Donnell gage the nominating, committee's re-. port. Salty Campeau intro- duced the proposed board of directors., No nominations were made from the floor and the 'proposed board -was accepted.
