visit the zoo

Early last Friday
morning at seven o'clock
43 gathered at the Ripley
Huron -Legion Hall to
board a bus for Toronto.

van den Hogen both of
Ripley, some Guides
and a few parents were
on their way to' visit the
big Metro Toronto Zoo.
Arriving at ten they
walked till twelve noon.
Then they had a noon
picnic lunch_ and then
again from one to three
thirty in the afternoon
they again walked. Then
they took, the half hour
train ride in the zoo
grounds. This, was
followed by lunch at the
restaurant on the
grounds. The girls saw a
great many different
animals -to name atl few -
camels, elephants,
hippopotamuses, tigers,
rhinoceroses, snakes and
birds; of all .kinds. You
name it -they saw it. After
the enjoyable visit to the
zoo the bus arrived back
at the Legion Hall -at eight
in the evening. Oujr
thanks to Mrs. Paquette
for ,information on this.
interesting and
educational trip to the big
city.
Last Saturday. and
Sunday Reg Moore on a.
weekend pass from
Victo4ria. Hospital in
London enjoyed a quiet
weekend at his home Mrs. James Anderson
there. Reg had to be back and Wilda, Mrs. Adrian
bours there in the past
two weeks. And it was
double bereavement for
Mrs. Elsie Forrester of
Malcolm Street and her
daughter Mrs. Barbara
Barber of Norwood, who
was here at the time, and
also to his sisters and
other family relatives as
they had just, received
word of the death of•:their
son, Glen Forrester, in
California. The double
funeral service was held
at the Mackenzie
McCreath Funeral Home
in Ripley on Monday
afternoon. Rev. George
Garratt of the Lucknow
Anglican Church of-
ficiated.
Glen Forrester was
born in Toronto, April 19,
1932 and passed away in
San . Jose .; California,
Wednesday May 2, 1979.
At one time Glen was
employed as assistant at
the C.N.R. station in
Ripley. His father, E.O.
Forrester was born in
Bruce township on
August 31, 1905. The
Ripley Huron Legion held
a memorial service at the
funeral home on Sunday
evening. On Monday
afternoon following the
funeral, lunch was served
in, --the Ripley'. -Huron-
Legion Hall. Surviving
are his wife, the former
Elsie Wareham,
daughter Mrs. Barbara
Barber of Norwood, and
grandchildren, also his
two' sisters -Kathleen,
early Sunday evening to
Victoria Hospital where
he is undergoing therapy.
Ripley folks were glad tb
hearthat he was able to
come home for the
weekend. •

morning, May 4, 1979, the
people of the Ripley area
received further shocking
news when it was learned.,,
that E.O: Forrester had
passed away in Kin-
cardine District hospital.
Especially was this sad
for the folks on Malcolm
Street as it was the third
death among the neig}]-
Gossell both . of Kin-
cardine. To these the
syrnpathy of this com-
munity is extended at this
time - of bereavement.
Known to some as Ed and
to others as, Oss le hewas
widely " known in this
whole area and he will be
greatly missed by his
Ripley friends and neigh-
bourson Malcolm Street.
It
has undergone major
surgery twice. And she
thinks that she has been
on the operating table
between 20 and 25 .times
over ' the past years.
Many friends called to
see her and extend their
best wishes. She cannot
name all here but
mentions a few of her
