UNIT 1
The May meeting of Unit
1, Lucknow U,C,W. was held
at the home of Mrs. Edith
Webster. Mrs, Havens wel-
comed. everyone and opened
with a Thought for the Day.
The roll call Was answered by
20 ladies.
The program was then
turned over to Mrs. Vi

University of Waterloo, May
1; 2 and 3, were: Mrs.
Raymond Leddy, Lucknow
W.I.; Mrs. Ernest Gaunt, St.
Helens W.I.; Mrs. Harvey
Houston, Kinloss-Kairshea
W.I.; Mrs: John A. Currie,
Whitechurch W.I.; and Mrs.
Margaret Foxton, Wingham
reading. The scripture was
read by Mrs. Phyllis Morri-
son. Mrs. Freda Button gave
the meditation and prayer.
Mrs. Phyllis Morrison read a
paper on Children's Rights
and Mrs. Lila Ritchie read
the Mandate, "Mrs,. Crouse
Lives Love". A reading, Let
the Children Come Unto Me,
was given by Mrs, Vi Arnold.
Mrs. Arnold- gave some in-
teresting gardening tips.
Mrs. Freda Button shared a
favourite Prayer poem. Mrs..
Havens thanks the •commit-
tee and hostess.
Reports from the commit-
tees were heard and an an-
nouncement was made about
a series of lectures to take
place in the,. Presbyterian
Church in May. Plans were
made for, the Brownie and
Guide Mother and Daughter
banquet to be held on June
lst. A visit to Pinecrest
Manor was planned. for May
30th. It was agreed that a
fowl supper should be held in
the fall. In. June a joint
meeting of the Units will be
held in the church.
Mrs. Havens closed with
,prayer. A successful Hobby
Auction followed.
UNIT 2
The May meeting of Luck -
now U.C.W. Unit2, was held
at the home of Greta John-
ston May 1 with 14 members
present.
Grace Gibson set the
theme with the poem, "May -
time Mood;':
The roll call was respond-
ed to by the naming of an
accomplished prominent
Canadian Woman.
Papers were read by Mrs.
Drennan on "The Greying of
Canada" giving facts about
our ever growing aging pop-
ulation and Madelaine Rit-
chie on "Organ Tissue Dona-
tions" encouraging others to
give better life to many.
Plans were made for the
Unit to visit Pinecrest on
May 7th.
Madelaine Ritchie was in
charge of the devotional and
commenced with a poem,
"God's Springtime". Ida
Barger read the scripture.
Mrs. • Ritchie read an art-
icle on "Development of Per-
sonality" relating it to . the
International Year of the
Child celebrating the 20th

The Lucknow '.Fire Company's fourth
annual banquet was held in the Recrea-
tional Centre on Monday evening. Fire
Chief George Whitby made,, references to
new equipment that had been obtained
and also to a program of practice .drills
that are coming up to keep •both old and; t
new members sharp in fire fighting
methods; W. J. Davision, the most senior
honorary member, recalled when they
kept a team handy to hook onto the reels
and how in 1914..transportation was
speeded up when he obtained a .Ford

Anniversary services at .the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church were observed on
Sunday, exactly 64 years to the day since
the opening and dedication of the present.

Wm. McLaren of Knox College conduct-
ed . the services and ceremoivj,that
brought to fulfillment the new church, a
project that was started after the union of
the two Presbyterian congregations ,in
Lucknow Knox and St. Andrews.

close the meeting.
UNIT # 3
Unit # 3 met at the home of
Mrs, Eldon Bradley with 17
members and one visitor
present. Mrs. Cook welcom-
ed everyone and opened with
a poehi."Spring Cleaning".
The unit observed a mom-
ent's silence in memory of
Mrs. Walter Pollock,
The roll call was answered
by a "Mother's Day
Thought" and a keepsake of
their mothers'. The treasur-
er's report was given by Mrs.
Jardine. The offering was
taken and dedicated by Mrs.
Cook. Mrs. Cliff Menary
gave an interesting article on
stewardship.
The program was then
taken by the convener, Mrs.
Elleda Wightman, She open-
ed with a poem. Mrs. Wight -
man introduced Mrs. Stewart
Collyer, who spoke on her
recent trip to the island of St.
Vincent where she and her
husbaa4 had visited with 'Dr.
Brock and Mary Cleland, She
gave a most interesting and
descriptive account of their
winter holiday on this island,
along with her colourful pic-
tures. She was thanked by
Mars. Wightman.
For the devotions, Mrs.
Wightman gave a poem,
"Say It With Flowers". Mrs.
Symon de Boer sang, "In
the Garden". Mrs. Cook
closed "with , prayer. Mrs.
Wilbur Brown conducted the
"This and That" sale. The
committee served lunch and
a visit was enjoyed with a cup
of tea.
