Homemakers attend Achievement night

At the 4-11 Achievement
Night in Lucknow on Thurs-
day evening in the United
Church, Karen Beecroft re-
ceived -her first 2 project
certificate and Mrs. Walter
Elliott received a 10 year
leader certificate. Congratu-
lations to all.
On Sunday afternoon Mrs.
Walter Elliott, Mrs. Paul
Laidlaw and Michelle of Lon-
don, Mrs. Paul Elliott and
Jeffery of Brussels and Kar-
en Elliott attended a bridal
shower at Mrs. Gary Sutton's
of Lucknow for Diane.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Des Roches and Stephen of
South Lancaster have been
transferred to London. They
were in London on business
and as a result spent the
weekend with their friends,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClen-
aghan and Mrs. Ben Mc-
Clenaghan.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss
of Plattsville spent the week-
end 'with Mr. and 'Mrs. Carl
McClenaghan and Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Morri-
son of Little Current were
Sunday callers on Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Mr. and Mrs. John Shetler
of St. Helens visited an even-
ing last week with Mr.. and
Mrs. Victor Emerson.

Friday that Mrs. Russel.
Proctor of Livonia died of a
heart attach .Thursday even-
ing. Mrs. Proctor and her
husband, Russel had spent
the weekend before, return-
ing Monclay to Livonia, in ap-

and Mrs. Harvey Osborne
and family 'when around
thirty folks visited them.
Quite a number of the
United Church members
from here attended Gorrie
United Church for an even-
ing service when Dr. Donald
Watt told of his medical work
with the United. Church in
Canadian hospitals. They
now have a base in New-
foundland as well as many in
British Columbia where he
resides in Vancouver.
James and Christopher
•Humphrey of Bluevale are
visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Osborne while their
parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Keith
Humphrey are on holiday.
On Monday evening a
shoot party was held in
Whitechurch Community
Memorial Hall. Winners
'were, ladies high, Miss Mary
Hehn; ladies second high,
Mrs. Charles Bosman; gents
high, Alex Sproal; gents sec-
ond high, Johnston Conn. In
travelling shoot there were
eight to cut and Mrs. Charles
Bosman was winner. The
lucky cut was won by Mrs.
M. Morrison. There were
seventeen tables in play.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rintoul
and Brian were Mr. and Mrs.
Bradley Speran, Brussels,
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Rintoul
and Kevin, East Wawanosh,
Mr. and Mrs. Corey, Clinton,
[Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Rintoul,
Carol, Kimberley and Debbie
of St. Helens.
Mr. and Mrs, Joe Corey of
Clinton were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Gary
Rintoul and Kevin.
Fred 5Davis. of La Salle
• visited on the weekend with
Mrs. Agnes Farrimr and with
his parents at Lucan.

meeting on Wednesday- ev-
ening at 8.30 in the Sunday
School room with an attend-
ance of 17 welcomed by Mrs.
Harvey Osborne. '
Mrs. Osborne showed pic-
tures of China, loaned from
Mrs. Hugh Nugent arranged
on boards. She opened the
meeting with a poem by Mrs.
Jonathan Goforth, "Call
Back".
Mrs. Osborne led in pray-
er. The scripture was read by
Mrs. Jim de Boer. The medi-
tation was given by Mrs.
Osborne from Mrs. Goforth's
book. The offering was re-
ceived by Karen Young and`
dedicated by Mrs. Osborne.
Pianist .Mrs. Don Ross
supplied the hymn music.
The topic was China. Mrs.
Osborne and Mrs. Jim de
Boer presented a film on the
topic.
The • president Mrs. Don
'Ross presided for the busi-
ness. The minutes were read
by the assistant secretary,

Mrs. Valetta Emerson. An
invitation from Wingham Go-
forth Society was accepted.
The group were reminded
of the cleaning bee to be held
for the church and for the
manse before the new minis-
ter atrives.
The Ladies Aid collection
was received but there, was
no business so thee was no
meeting,
Mrs,. Valetta Emerson
gave the courtesy remarks.
On April 24th at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier, Mrs.
Bill Evans, Mrs. Lorne Dur-
nin, Mrs. Robert- Mowbray
and Mrs. Victor Emerson
were at Pinecrest Manor to
present a program for White-
church W.I. They presented
Dr. Anna Wright, Ellen
Gardner and Elizabeth Scott
with a treat for their birth-
days. •
