The Co-ordinated Cuties held their fifth meeting Sat- urday, March 17, 1979 at Donna Elphick's. Each mem- ber showed the group 3 different ways to tie a tie as the roll call. After the bills were paid they had 15c left. Charlene Elphick read ' the minutes of the last meeting. They decided to do their exhibit on gloves for Ach- ievement Day. The leaders discussed the care and selection of purses and the care, selection and fit of shoes. • The'members who brought their purses, emptied them out and compared the num- ber of articles needed with the ones not needed. Gayle MacKenzie served juice and the meeting closed. was The Clover Valley Co-or- dinated Cuties held their sixth meeting at Karen Metz- ger's on March 24. Charlene Elphick read the minutes of the last meeting. All mem- bers answered the roll call which was "three ways to care for both". The leaders discussed the care and selection of jewel- lery. For group activity; each member put a wrapped up piece of -jewellery iri 'a bag and "then chose someone elses. They unwrapped it and tried to describe the owner. After closing the meeting with the 4-H motto, Karen Metzger served donuts and juice. Stylilcs The fourth meeting of the Stylics was held. February ,17 at Foran's. Highlights of this meeting were a demonstra- tion of tying scarves, purse evaluation and a discussion on purses and shoes. MEETING 5' Members answered the roll call, Three ways to make . shoes look better, longer. The members agreed on a design for their record book covers. The leaders introduced the accessory, jewellery. Jewel- lery belonging to the mem- bers was placed in a box. Each member selected a piece from the box, other than her own. They discus- sed the piece of jewellery as to type, costume, or real owners characteristic; when it should be worn and where; size of person to wear it. Different types of jewel- lery and how they should be cared for were also discus- ,„Ased. The roll call "Three ways you can look after shoes to make them last longer" was answered by all mem- bers present. Mrs. Gingrich led a discus- sion on the selection of jewel- lery. Members each brought al piece of jeellery wrapped to the meeting. After the un- wrapping of each piece members described the --perry sonality of the owner. Mrs. Gingrich presented a tray of. jewellery and some clothing which the members were asked to match according to suitability. 1 HPSS board budget set for the full year BY WILMA OKE The Huron -Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School board set its.,. 1979 budget at $4,683,415, an increase of $132,000 over last year at a special meeting in Dublin Jack Lane, Superin` tend'ent of "Business and Finance, said in presenting the budget, "To meet this increase, the board will require only 2.9 per . cent more than last year from municipalities in the two counties." He said salaries and fringe benefits account for 70.6 per cent of budget. Provincial grants and other revenue will provide 82.6 per cent of the 1979 budg6t, com- pared with 83.4 per cent in 1978. Local taxpayers will be required to con- tribute $798,700 which is 17.4 per cent of this year's budget, up. from 16,6 per cent in 1978. To \ allow for the collection of the. necessary taxes, the board has set a mill rate of five mills or its equivalent for ratepayers in all 51 supporting municipalities over that paid i>'i" 1978. This will mean $5 per .$1,000 of assessment more than last year. As an average, this will cost the tax- payers $17.50 more in 1979, according to board calculations_ Lane said, "Positive results from board decisions made in 1978 to cope" with declining enrolments are reflected in this budget." .fleeting will interest parents Rev. Ken' Campbell of Milton, head of Renaissance Inter- national, will be speaking in Clinton on Wednesday April 4, to the PTA meeting of the Clinton and District Christian School. Rev. Campbell, a Protestant evangelist, and the Renaissance International group are concerned with parents' responsibility in the education of children.
