Edith Webster. Everyone
thoroughly enjoyed his talk
on The Child, which was
interspersed with excerpts
from his radio program, This
is my Life. He also played a
tape of Acres of Memory. He
was thanked by Mrs. Anna
Mae Hunter and presented
with a gift of money, which
he donated back to the
church.
A piano solo by Mrs. Mary
MacGillivray was enjoyed.
Courtesy remarks were
given by Mrs. Anna Mae
Hunter and sheannounced
the Easter Thankoffering to
be .held in April with Elaine
Townsend as speaker.

Presbyterial annual in Kin-
cardine.
The meeting closed with a
social time.
U.C.W. UNIT 2
Mrs. Grace Gibson opened
the meeting on Tuesday,
March 6 with a short poem.
A Memoriam poem, "Home
at Last", in memory of Miss
Lena Robinson, Mrs. Norma
McDonagh, and Mr. Gordon
Kirkland, was read by Mrs.
Gibson.
Mrs. Andrew Ritchie gave
the treasurer's report. Miss
Ada Webster reported on
Community Friendship. Mrs.
Chas. McDonald made ar-
rangements for the unit to
help at the banquet on March
30.
The offering was taken by
Mrs. A. Ritchie and dedicat-
ed by Mrs. Gibson. The
meeting was closed with
prayer.
Unit 2 joined the other two
units for the remainder of the
meeting with Unit 1 • in
charge.
UNIT 3 LUCKNOW U.C.W. .
Unit # 3 of Lucknow
U.C.W, met in the choir
room at the church on Tues-
day, March 6.
Mrs. Cook opened the
meeting -.with a poem. Mrs.
Cook gave a prayer and all
repeated the Lord's Prayer.
Mrs. Jafdine gave the
treasurer's report. Plans
were made for the unit to
visit Pinecrest and • Pine
Lodge and also for the Milk
Producer's Banquet, which
will be on March 30th.
The offering was taken and
dedicated by Mrs. Cook. The
unit then joined Units 1 and 2
in the church parlour for the
program which Unit 1 pre-
pared.
Trinity UCW choose
St. Patrick's theme
The Trinity United Church
Women held their March 8th
meeting at the Sepoy Apart-
ments room in Lucknow.
The meeting opened with a
poem, "Sprinkle Sunshine"
and the devotions theme,
"March Winds and Sunshine
Storms" by Mrs. Gr"eg
Blake. Mrs." Harvey Ritchie
read the scripture and closed
the devotions with prayer.
Miss Ada Webster gave a
reading. Mrs. Arnold Camp-
bell played the guitar and
sang. Mrs. Allan Ritchie
gave two readings, "The
Legend of the 'Shamrock"
and "The Legend of the.
Blarney Stone" and, Mrs'.
Frank Alton read a poem,
"Birthday of St. Patrick"
and. "Smile".
The Mission , Study on.
Human Rights was • read by
Mrs. Doug Raynard.
Mrs. Reg Broome reported
on Supply and Welfare ask-
ing the ladies to have good
used clothing ready for a bale
after the April meeting. Five
quilts were handed in to be
delivered to Five. Oaks, Par-
is, Ontario and baby layettes
to the Children Aid in God-
erich.
A number of ladies are
taking the course on needle-
point held at the home of
Mrs. D. ' A. Hackett. Four
ladies attended the World's
Day ,of Prayer.
Mrs. Alex Hackett read
questions about the Observer
Survey on Advertisement
Policy to be answered and
returned.
Prizes were awarded to
Mrs. Alex Hackett for the
fancy apron and Mrs. Char-
les Wilkins for the work
apron. 'Judges were Mrs.
Allister Hughes and Mrs.
Frank Ritchie.
The Live Love Project on
Jamaica was described by
Mrs. Ken Alton, -
Mrs: Donald Hackett,
president, closed with a
hymn and a prayer.
Numbers were drawn for a
partner for lunch and social
time.

On Monday, March 5 Con-
stable Bill Wilson came to
discuss what the Bus Patrol
is all about. He also showed a
film- and discussed bicycle
safety.
John Wilson from " the
Ministry of Education came
for a briefvisit to the school
and spoke to ;Mr. Zyluk and
to. Denise Dalton, community
co-ordinator.
Heather. Ann Stapleton
and Maria Dalton advanced
in the Public Speaking finals.
Maria spoke in Dublin and
Heather Ann spoke in Brus-
sels.
The senior girls basketball
team went to . Exeter on
March 3rd. They beat Zurich
20 - 4 but lost the rest -of their
games and, didn't make the
finals.
Mr. Zyluk attended a
Social Environment Curric-
ulum meeting at - the board
office on Tuesday, March 6.
Mrs: McDonagh and Mrs.
Ferguson attended an Impact
meeting on Wednesday,
March 7th, in Dublin.

visited the school to speakto
the teachers, on Tuesday,
March 6.
On March 7 there was a
Family and School meeting
at the school. Family hand-
books were given out to the
parents ho were - present.
There was a discussion on
raising money for play-
ground equipment. Also the
parents present and the
Family and School committee
approved the. school profs
sional activity days plannl

for the 1979 - 1980 year by
the teachers. Denise Dalton,
co-ordinator gave 'aA presenta-
tion' on the Community
School Association.
GUEST ARTIST
Miss Denise Dalton was
guest artist on.Friday, March
2nd, for the Grades 5 and 6.
She brought her equipment
andshowed the steps of
painting a, picture.
Hot Dog Day was held on
February 23rd for the stud-
ents:- and teachers.
The Grades 3 and 4 are
writing to their penpals in
Michigan. Mr. Zyluk will be
filming the Grade 3 and 4
• class with the systems T.V.
camera.
Mary Kennedy was in to
speak to Mr. Zyluk and Mrs.
Eedy on the topic of religion.

at 8 p.m. St. Joseph's School

Ashfield calls for
gravel tenders
Ashfield Council met on .
March 6, 1979, with all
members -present. B. M.
Ross and Associates, Goder-
\ich, Ont., were engaged to
do preliminary engineering
at the site of the bridge pro-
posed to be constructed at lot
38 Lake Range concession.
The road superintendent
Was instructed to call tenders
for 32,000 cu. yds. of crushed
gravel to be spread on
township roads, 2,000 cu.
yds. in a stock pile, approx-
imately,45,000 cu. yds. of pit
run gravel to be spread on .
certain roads, approximately
100 tons of calcium chloride
and 6000 gallons of road oil.
Tenders are to be in by 1
p.m: March 20, 1979.
A. road budget for 1979
was approved with a total
expenditure of $309,000. On
this $175,000 will be received
in subsidy from the Ministry
of Transportation and Com•-
munications.. ,
Clarence Doherty was ap-
pointed to represent Ashfield
-'Township on the committee
in charge of the Dungannon
Ball Park.
Road accounts,of
$12;046.05 and generl ac-
counts\ of $14,884.41 were
approved for payment.
