Ripley District school participates in science fair

SCIENCE FAIR
Once again the Public
School and High School
held their Science Fair iii
the 'High School, It was,
held
as-
held on Thursday,
February 15 from 7:00 to
9:00 p.m. Many students
spent a lot oftime on their
projects and there was a
good turnout, to it.
Students from the
secondary section were
divided into two groups:
Junior High. division
were: ° first, Larry
Needham, his project
was on Pollution, second,
Darlene Coiling and
Helen Kern'pton,°" their
project was on Dish-
washing Liquids, and
third, Mike Lamb, • his
project was on starch, fat
and protein.
Winners of the Senior
divison were : first,
Adrian Korten and Brian
McGuire, their project
was on Refraction of
Light, second, Brian
Huston, Rick Rock and
Harold VanderGlass,
their project was on Delta
Formation, and third,
Hiimn.Centrai..

SKATING PARTY
On-.... February 14" our
school went for a skating
party to the Ripley arena.
Kindergarten,, grades 1, 2
and 3 went in the morning
from 9 :00 to 11:00 o'clock..
Grades 4, 5 and 6 went in
the afternoon from 1:00 to
3:00 o'clock.
SCIENCE FAIR'
On Feb. 15 many girls
and . boys entered the.
Science Fair.
The • winners in the.
primary were: first,
Monique Harvey -starch;
.second, Karin Silver-
stone -oxygen
and third,
Corinne Daze -plants.
The winners iri Junior
were: first, Lisa Harvey -
bald faced hornet;
second, Ian Culbert -
cameras ; . third Christine
Cover, Dana Clampitt
and 'Heather Scott=
electricity.'
PUBLIC SPEAKING
On February 16 we had
our' public,speaking
contest. Children were
picked from their own
class to speak in the
gymnasium.: They had to
say their speeches to
grades 3 and. up. The
winners were : Philip
Plowright, Lisa --Harvey
and Christine Cover,
They will be speaking in
the Legion. Hall on
Sunday.

All of these -winners will
take their projects to the
Bruce County Science
Fair. in Chesley which is
going to be . held
sometime in April.
Congratulations go to

luck at the county
competition. '
, SPORTS
The junior girls
basketball team played
Sacred Heart on
Tuesday, February 13.
They put up a pretty good
fight . but unfortunately
were defeated. ' On
Wednesday night Wiarton
travelled to Ripley to
play the girls and they,
IN
too, beat Ripley.
Friday, the girls
travelled to Kincardine.
Once again they put up
quite a battle but were
defeated. Better luck in
your next games girls!

DANCE
Sound System '70
played for another
successful RDS dance on we
.Friday, February 16. At
eleven o'clock, Vice
P.resident Daw"na
Rutledge announced the
Valentine Queen and her
two attendants. Mary
Kempton was second
runner-up and Karen
Lowry was first runner-
up while . Heather
MacDonald a Level
Three student was named
Miss Valentine. Gail
MacDonald, last year's
Valentine Queen crowned
Heather and each girl
received a box of
chopolates. Thanks goes
to everyone who attended
this dance. You really
showed your school
spirit.

Students have received
their gym reports from
Mr. Stanley. These have
involved lunch-time
activities, running,
skipping, volleyball and
the Canadian, Fitness
Tests,
The Ripley Schools held
a Science. Fair on
February 15 in the gym.
For the Grade _7 and 8
classes the winners were
Ronald Rock, Janice
Needham and Debbie
Lamb. Tammy Sorbara
and Leah Coulbeck
received honourable
mention.
On February 16 the
Girls' Hockey team hada
game against Brookside.
They went to Lucknow to
play this game. Ripley
won 2-0.
On February 16 the
winners of the public
speaking for the Grade 7
and 8 glasses went to the
Ripley -Huron Central
School. They were Janice
Needham and Nichola
Stafford from Mrs.
Martyn's class, Joe
Nugent and Leah Culbeck
from Mr. Armstrong's
class and Ronald Rock
and Lori Roberts from
Mrs. Henderson's class.
Those chosen to speak
at the Legion Public
Speaking Contest on Feb.
23 were Nichola Stafford,
Janice Needham and
Leah Coulbeck.

your name, address and tele-

type of product purchased, date
of purchase and price paid; an
outline of'your problem and
your attempts to solve it;
copies of receipts, work orders
and any other documentation;
and what you want the com-
pany to do about your"problem.
• Negotiate. You may persuade
the merchant to exchange your
purchase or make'alternate
arrangements. .

leading or deceptive represen-
tations. To cancel a contract,
send a registered letterwhich

Services Bureau and the
Better- Business Bureau for
help in preparing letters of
complaint or cancellation. If
you are unable to resolve the
problem, the staff will mediate
on your behalf.
