Hugh Nugent, opened the annual meeting of Chal- mers Presbyterian Church held in the Sunday. School room by reading Psalm 84 followed by prayer. The sec- retary,. Walter Elliott, read the minutes. It was decided to hold the church services 'upstairs for the winter months and to pay the Outreach of $1 per m. em-. ber - $109.00 to support Camp Kintail and others. The October thankoffering was held in the church with Mrs. Munshaw of. Lucknow guest speaker, entertaining soci- eties from Whitechurch U.C.W. and Calvin Brick U.C.W., Belgrave and Luck - now afternoon and evening W.M;S. A special collection was received. in. December for Christmas gifts for patients at Pinecrest Nursing Home who have no relatives. Mon- ey is raised bypaying dues, birthday teas, . offerings and Home Helper donations. Through the members and Home Helpers support finan- cially and spiritually, 'they were able to meet our alloca- tion of $356.26. The Ladies►id with treas- urer, Mrs. John de Boer, had a very actiye financial year.. made by craft sales, dona- tions .and catering with a good balance on hand. The Young People's Soc- iety held att"othersuccessful year with meetings held every two weeks at the manse; average attendance of 24 members every meet- ing. They clean the church to sponsor a foster child, through Christian Children's Fund of Canada. Socially they had two toboggan and snowmobile parties, and^Ol Time Dance and a beach party. • President- Fred. de Boer, vice president Colleen Ad- ams, secretary David Ross and treasurer David Elliott were the executive and the year closed with a balance of $272.64. The Sunday School super- intendent, Walter Elliott, and secretary treasurer, Mrs. John Gaunt, and Clara Milligan with teachers Mrs. Wallace Milligan, Mrs. Vic- tor Emerson, .Kathy Purdon; 'Lone Purdon, Mrs. Harvey Osborne, Hilda de Boer, Karen Young, and Vickie Scott had a very successful year from April to November 26. The newly elected manag- ers are Barry ;Elliott, Archie Purdon, Wm. , Young and Mrs. John' Gaunt. The treas- urer is Mrs. John Gaunt and organist is Mrs. Don Ross. The ,,auditors reappointed were Mrs. Bill Gibson and -Bill Versteeg. • It was decided to purchase' 40 new Books of Prise and a11' will be given the oppor- tunity to purchase one. It was also decided to follow up with information asked for re: asking for an Ordained Mis- sionary preacher. Rev. H. Nugent closed the meeting with prayer. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rintoul visited on Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Mack Cardiff of Brussels. Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Caldwell of Blyth also visited at the same home. On Thursday last' Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan were guests with Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Fair and Shaun of Bluevale. James. Wilson of Wing - ham, formerly of White- church, hitechurch, is a , patient at iondon Hospital where he is having hip surgery. Reports. are that he is recovering rapidly. Bill Wilkens and Robbie of Atwood were. Saturday visit- ors with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilkens. Visitors with Mrs. Ella Johnston, Wingham, were Judy Robinson of Kitchener on Saturday and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ritchie of 2nd concession, Kinloss, Rev. and Mrs. Bev Kay and Wendy of Kitimat were Monday visitors with mem- bers of the .Whitechurch Langside congregations, Mr, and Mrs. Paul Elliott and Jeffery of Brussels were Sunday visitors with his par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family. M. and Mrs. Ralph- Cam- eron of Lucknow were Sun- day visitors with her brother, Bill Rintoul and Mrs: Rin- toul. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Fal- coner of 'Sarnia spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Wallace Milligan and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mowbray. Mrs. Jas. We are pleased to .report that Mrs. Harvey Osborne. was released from Wingham Hospital Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woods of Egmondville were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Ella Johnston of Wingham. On Tuesday last at 4 o'clock a group of 12 village children met at the home of Mrs. Harvey Osborne Tor Junior Bible Study. They" sang hymns, learned a Bible verse and were told an inter- esting. Bible story with the use of the flannelgraph. They will meet every Tuesday after four. We are sorry to report that Mrs. Clarence Adams - was admitted last week. to Wing- ham Hospital. The commun- ity wishes her a speedy 'recovery. We recently .learned that Mrs. Maggie Maclntosh of Lucknow has been admitted to Wingham Hospital, This community extends wishes to her forpeedy recovery as she . grew to young woman- • hood on the 2nd concession in this community. We are sorry to report. Mrs; Harvey . Osborne had the misfortune to fall when. the ladder slipped as she was coming down from the roof of the garage where. She had been helping her husband, Harvey, shovel off the snow: She spent the weekend in Wingham .Hospital where x-rays revealedno br6ken bones. Harvey's mother from Markdale spent the weekend here; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sin- - namon and family of Whit- ton pnkton visited on Saturday with Mr. land Mrs. E. W. Beecroft. and Karen an d with brother, Hugh Sinnamon. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Beecroft, Angela and Jennifer and Janice of Exeter. visited with his parents, Mr. , 'and Mrs. E. W. Chalmers W.M.S. held their January .meeting Wed- nesday, January 24 at the home. of Mrs. Wesley Tiffin. Mrs. Bill Rintoul presided for the worship period and • opened with everyone sing- ing. Mrs: • Rintoul extended a warm welcome to all and gavepoem. The scripture. and meditation, the Power of Bless, and prayer was given by Mrs. Alan Falconer Mrs. John :de.Boer gave a reading. The topic, New Years Resolutions, was given by Mrs. Bill Rintoul. The president, Mrs. Don' Ross, presided for the rest of the meeting. The minutes were read by the secretary, Mrs. Bill Pur - don. The financial statement , was given by Mrs. Bill Evans. Mrs. Harvey Osborne was asked to be the speaker for - the World's Day of Prayer, The offering was received and Mrs. Peter de Boer gave the prayer. Mrs. Bill Rintoul gave the Highlights of China. Mrs. Don Ross gave the closing prayer. The Ladies Aid then met.
