A
On Sunday night Welles-
ley came to Lucknow and,
although they arrived late
because of their bus breaking
down, they were ready to
play hockey for 60 minutes.
The first period was even

League
action
Peter Keet got the shot out'
when the Bruins trounced
the Leafs 9 - 0 in House
League hockey this week.
Steve Frayne 'scored four
times for the Bruins and Ray
Martin got a hat trick, Ken
Irwin scored twice.
The Rangers lost to the
Red Wings 9 .. 1 when Mark
Haldenby led the way with a
hat trick. Perrin Dore'. and
Richard Ducker each scored
twice and Eric Haldenby and
Garry Van Beers each scored
once.
The Canadiens whipped
the Black Hawks 9 71. Gerald
Martin .• scored 3, Wayne
Burgs= and Kevin. Lindsay
scored 2 ailLarry Blake and
David Exel scored once.
as both teams managed to
score ones goal each. Luck-
now's being scored by Gord
McIntyre and assisted by
Kevin Murray. -
The second period. started "
the same as the first, being a
goaltender's duel. Twoquick
goals were scored; Luck-
now's by Curly Stanley, with
assists going to Ross Forster
and Doug Stevenson, and
Wellesley's by Gary Yantizi.
Then the roof fell in on
Lucknow as Wellesley 'scored
four straight goals to take a
commanding 6 - 2 lead.
Lucknow got one back just
before the end of the second,
when Jim Murray banged
one in with two seconds left
in the period.
In between periods the
Lancers had a little talk about
how to play ,hockey and it
seemed to work: They came
out in the third 'and scored
three goals to tie the game
with about eight minutes
left. .
Lucknow's goals w' ere
scored by Dave Black assist-
ed by Montgomery and Stev-
enson: Montgomery •.then
went to work and scored two
goals with assists going to
John Hamilton, Jim Murray
and Gord McIntyre. This tied
the game at sixeach and
overtime was on the way.
John Emberlin of Wallow
and Randy Wagger of Welles-
ley had ideas of their own, as
they both took double, minors
Ilk roughing, just before the
overtime period started.
Both teams had good chan-
c„�,s to score right at- the. start
of the overtime period but
failed. Then Carl Stanley
took a pass " from . Doug
Stevenson and broke down
the right,,,,sis�de and deked a
defenceifian • anfdshovelled
the puck past the sprawling
goal tender, for the winning
goal. •
LOSE TO•MILDMAY
On Wednesday, January
24 the Mildmay Monarchs
came to Lucknow and •prom-
ptly skated- the Lucknow
team into the ice,
Mildmay scored four goals
in the first period •to ,Luck -
no's .one .which was an
unassisted effort by Doug
Stevenson
Mildmay scored two more
in the second period to Luck-
now's one. which again was
unassisted, coming, off the
stick. of Carl Stanley.
•In the third period Mild-
may scored three lines to
Lucknew's once. Lucknow's
goal was scored by Paul
(Eyes) Frayne, with assists
going to Andy Sheddon and
Sandy Fitzgerald.
Final score Mildmay 9,
.Lucknow 3.
On Friday night the Lan-
cers travelled to Mildmay
and played a very tough
physical kind of game 'and
although they, lost 5 - 3, they
feel sure now they can beat
Mildmay if they happen to
meet them in the playoffs.
• Scoring goals for Lucknow
were Ian Montgomery with
two and Kevin Murray,
assisted by Ian Montgomery,
to ,complete Lucknow's scor-
ing.
